"But..."
"No buts. Remember, we knew nothing about what happened that night. No matter who asks, we knew nothing."
Ye Jiaxu took a lighter from his pocket and, in front of Ye Yubin, set the paper ablaze.
The flame grew from a flicker to engulfing the entire sheet.
Watching the ashes on the ground, Ye Yubin asked, "Second Brother, then how are we supposed to investigate?"
"Take the express envelope to the delivery company," Ye Jiaxu said.
There was a tracking number on it. Delivery companies were all networked, and they would eventually find the sender by checking the tracking number.
"I'll go now," Ye Yubin said, preparing to leave.
Ye Jiaxu stopped him. "If you go now, won't it be obvious that you're suspicious!"
Judging by his demeanor when he first entered, Ye Ziyu and the others might have seen something. If he didn't eat breakfast, it would only raise more suspicion.
Ye Yubin completely obeyed Ye Jiaxu. He composed himself, and they left the room together.
Everyone was already seated at the dining table.
"Yubin." Shen Meixiu's eyes followed Ye Yubin. "Are you feeling unwell? Why does your complexion look so bad?"
Ye Yubin had tried his best to hide his panic, but Shen Meixiu's question caused his expression to falter.
"He's feeling a bit unwell. We'll need to take him to the hospital later," Ye Jiaxu answered for him.
Unexpectedly labeled as sick, Ye Yubin was surprised but nodded in agreement.
"Third Brother, after breakfast, I'll accompany you to the hospital," Ye Chenhan offered.
This way, he wouldn't have to go to the company.
Ye Qianzhi saw through his little scheme and, putting down his chopsticks, said to him, "He doesn't need you."
His hopes dashed, Ye Chenhan bit on his chopsticks, wanting to argue further, but was dissuaded by a look from Ye Ziyu.
Angering Ye Qianzhi would bring him no good. A moment of peace meant lasting happiness.
The minor disruption caused by Ye Chenhan shifted everyone's attention away from Ye Yubin. When they looked at him again, Ye Yubin used his indisposition as an excuse to go to the hospital.
Ye Jiaxu still had to go to the company. He also felt that investigating the delivery company only required one person, so he didn't accompany Ye Yubin.
Ye Yubin left the dining table, changed his clothes upstairs, greeted everyone, and headed to the shoe cabinet to change his shoes before leaving.
"Let's go together," Di Mingjue caught up to him.
"No need," Ye Yubin immediately refused.
Di Mingjue didn't give up despite the rejection and continued to follow him. "It's fine, it's on my way."
Ye Yubin couldn't help but roll his eyes at such thick skin. "Don't trouble yourself. I can drive myself there."
"Third Brother, if you're not feeling well, you shouldn't drive. Since Mingjue is going that way, it's fine if he gives you a ride," Ye Chenhan's voice drifted over.
Ye Ziyu, next to him, however, thought differently.
The Di Mingjue she knew wasn't someone who would proactively help. If he insisted on taking him to the hospital even after repeated rejections, there must be a reason.
Given the suddenness of the situation, he hadn't informed her in advance that it might be inconvenient. Although Ye Ziyu was curious, she didn't step forward to inquire.
Fearing it would arouse everyone's suspicion, Ye Yubin was forced to agree.
Sitting in Di Mingjue's car, he felt uncomfortable, fidgeting and constantly shifting his posture.
"Are you starting to feel unwell?" Di Mingjue asked with concern.
Ye Yubin opened one eye, glanced at him, and then turned his face towards the window.
With no one paying attention, he couldn't maintain the pretense any longer.
Since his concern wasn't being reciprocated, he decided to ask something else.
"Your complexion wasn't good after receiving the mail this morning. It wasn't convenient to ask at home earlier. Did you encounter any difficulties?" Di Mingjue glanced at him when he had a free moment.
His eyes suddenly snapped open, Ye Yubin looked at him defensively.
