Di Mingjue’s gaze made Gu Xiukai feel something, and he looked up, then walked over.
“If I recall correctly, you are President Di from Di Jue Group.”
“Yes, did Young Master Gu meet me before?”
He had never greeted Gu Xiukai, and he didn’t expect him to know him.
Gu Xiukai’s concerns immediately dissipated from his brow, and he became familiar, saying, “I haven’t met you, but I’ve met your lover, Miss Ye.”
He remembered that the cooperation between Gu’s and Ye’s had been terminated after Gu Xiukai took over the company.
Di Mingjue waited quietly for his next words.
“President Di, is it convenient for you to step forward and chat?” Gu Xiukai gestured forward.
Shen Lin, by his side, was somewhat apprehensive. Facing Gu Xiukai, with whom he had no prior acquaintance, he couldn’t imagine what they might have to discuss privately.
“Young Master Gu, there are no outsiders here. Say whatever you have to say here,” Di Mingjue indicated Shen Lin’s identity to Gu Xiukai.
After a few seconds of hesitation, Gu Xiukai spoke, “President Di, you might not be aware of why Gu’s Corporation chose Ye’s Corporation among many companies for cooperation not long ago. And even reduced profits by five percent for Ye’s.”
“I know.”
“You know?”
Seeing Gu Xiukai’s stunned response with his mouth open, Di Mingjue nodded. “The second young master of the Gu family admires my lover. You want to tell me this, don’t you?”
Gu Xiukai’s surprise was no less than before. He hadn’t expected Di Mingjue to allow them to work together, knowing Gu Xiuyu harbored improper intentions toward Ye Ziyu.
“President Di, aren’t you bothered?”
A man repeatedly fawned over his lover; any man would find it unacceptable.
Before Gu Xiukai could chat much with Di Mingjue, Gu Xiuyu, standing nearby, saw this scene. Holding a wine glass, he appeared like a gust of wind, seemingly light but abruptly appearing before them.
“Brother, I was just looking for you. I didn’t expect you to be here,” Gu Xiuyu said to Gu Xiukai. “Everyone is curious about you. Go say hello to them.”
The people standing there were some collateral relatives of the Gu family, so meeting them held little significance.
Gu Xiukai had finally met Di Mingjue and wouldn’t let him leave so easily. He immediately refused Gu Xiuyu’s words, “There’s nothing about me that would make everyone curious. Rather, you’re abruptly interrupting my conversation with President Di.”
“Your conversation with President Di?” Gu Xiuyu repeated, his gaze shifting to Di Mingjue’s face. The confusion in his eyes seemed to ask what they could possibly have to talk about.
However, out of respect, Gu Xiuyu kept his lips sealed, not voicing the latter half of his thoughts.
“I’ll go over there to see. I won’t disturb you two,” Di Mingjue said, preparing to leave.
He didn’t want any connection with Gu Xiuyu, nor did he want to get involved in their brotherly affairs.
Gu Xiukai wanted to stop him but was intercepted by Gu Xiuyu.
“Brother, I have something to say to you.”
Hearing this, Di Mingjue glanced sideways, and his departing steps became more decisive.
After they had walked a good distance away, Shen Lin couldn’t help but voice his inner confusion, “President Di, Young Master Gu intends to cooperate with you. Why did you deliberately ignore him?”
Di Mingjue glanced at Shen Lin. “What do you think of the relationship between the Gu brothers?”
“They are like fire and water,” Shen Lin mused. The two were now disregarding each other’s lives for control of Gu’s Corporation, intent on pulling the other down.
Di Mingjue was satisfied with his answer but displeased with his slow thinking. “Since their relationship is so poor, what do you think the scene would be like if I joined in?”
Shen Lin instantly understood.
Sometimes, victory doesn't always require direct participation in a struggle; a strategic approach is also an option. When they are worn out, he wouldn’t need to expend any effort.
