It was easy to imagine that if Di Mingjue had any issues, Ye Ziyu would be the most worried. She probably hadn't slept all night, staying by his side.
The elevator doors opened, and Yu Xixi and Ye Chenhan stepped out.
"Do you know which room he's in?"
Yu Xixi shook her head.
She had only seen Ye Ziyu downstairs and hadn't had a chance to ask anything before Ye Ziyu left her side.
The two of them went from room to room, and Ye Chenhan spotted Shen Lin.
"Assistant Shen!"
Hearing himself called, Shen Lin paused.
"Fourth Master."
"Where is Mingjue? Which room is he in?"
Shen Lin, hearing Ye Chenhan's persistent questions, hesitated about whether to answer.
"What are you standing there for? We're here to visit him, not to collect a debt. Why are you so nervous?" Ye Chenhan grumbled.
Looking at Shen Lin's serious expression, it was just like looking at Di Mingjue. Their ability to irritate people was remarkably similar.
Yu Xixi took Ye Chenhan's arm and spoke kindly to Shen Lin, "I met Sister Ziyu downstairs, and learned from her that Brother Mingjue is sick and hospitalized. So, we bought some fruit to come and see him. If it's convenient, Assistant Shen, could you take us there? If it's not convenient, just tell us which room it is, and we'll go ourselves."
Compared to Ye Chenhan's brusqueness, Yu Xixi's words were much more pleasant.
However, whether the attitude was good or bad, Shen Lin still couldn't decide to tell them the room number.
"I'm truly sorry, Madam instructed that no one else should know about President Di's hospitalization. Therefore, without Madam's permission, I really cannot tell you where President Di's room is," Shen Lin said apologetically.
His words genuinely confused Ye Chenhan.
He was sick, not that he had won the lottery. Why the need to prevent others from knowing?
Or was it that he feared everyone would come to visit Di Mingjue like them, disturbing his rest?
"I'll call Ziyu." Ye Chenhan unhappily took out his phone from his pocket.
Ye Ziyu, inside the ward, had heard the conversation in the corridor. She came out and said to Ye Chenhan, "No need to call. Come in."
Overnight, Ye Ziyu seemed to have aged several years. Ye Chenhan couldn't believe her appearance.
"Ziyu, what exactly happened? How did you..." Ye Chenhan couldn't bring himself to finish the sentence.
Yu Xixi looked at Di Mingjue, whose face was ashen on the hospital bed, and tugged nervously at Ye Chenhan's arm, signaling him to look.
"This!" Ye Chenhan couldn't help but exclaim.
At this moment, Di Mingjue didn't look like a normal patient. His gaunt appearance made it impossible for him to believe that he had been perfectly healthy just last night.
"Mingjue was poisoned," Ye Ziyu said. She trusted that Ye Chenhan wouldn't gossip.
Ye Chenhan took a step forward and leaned in, asking, "What did you say? What do you mean poisoned?"
"What happened at the banquet last night? Di Mingjue was unconscious after he returned. After coming to the hospital and having tests done, the doctor informed me that he was poisoned," Ye Ziyu asked Ye Chenhan, tilting her head.
As he had been drinking with him, Ye Chenhan could stand here and speak unharmed, while Di Mingjue had to lie in bed, reliant on a ventilator to maintain his vital signs.
Ye Chenhan was stumped. He recalled what had happened the previous night.
After leaving the hotel, Di Mingjue had not been himself. He seemed unable to hear when spoken to. Later, when he got out of the car, he was unresponsive, as if asleep. Now that he thought about it, something had already happened to him then, but he had foolishly thought he had simply drunk too much and fallen asleep.
"Did they find out what kind of poison it was?" Ye Chenhan pressed.
Yu Xixi chimed in, "Yes, has the poison been neutralized?"
