Capítulo 780: Chapter 780: He Was Taken Away by an Ambulance

Fu Mianmian saw Chi Yue and her initially restrained voice gradually grew louder, then she burst into tears.

Chi Yue choked up, hugging her and comforting her frantically.

“I’m sorry, it’s mommy’s fault, I’m sorry, I’m sorry…”

Fu Mianmian’s crying woke everyone in the house.

Chi Jianshan was the first to run up, followed closely by Fu Rongyin with his cane.

Seeing the mother and daughter embracing and crying, Chi Jianshan thought that Fu Mianmian had woken up in the middle of the night looking for Chi Yue. He sighed, “The child has been very unstable lately, always fussing for mommy. Tonight, when she fell asleep, she was fine. What’s wrong, Mianmian, did you have a nightmare?”

Fu Mianmian’s crying did not lessen at his words, if anything, it got even louder, causing Chi Jianshan to panic.

“Ah, little ancestor, stop crying. Yueyue, why don’t you just sleep with her tonight since you are here anyway.”

Chi Yue murmured an acknowledgment and turned to enter the room.

Chi Jianshan closed the door, prepared to go downstairs, and out of the corner of his eye, saw Fu Rongyin standing nearby. He paused and asked, “Do you need help getting down?”

Fu Rongyin declined politely, “I can manage on my own.”

“Then let’s go.”

Fu Rongyin did not move. “I’ll come down in a while.”

Chi Jianshan stopped in his tracks, “You’re not thinking of going in there, are you? I don’t mean to speak out of turn, but with the situation as it is between you two, she won’t let you in. Although I don’t agree with you two continuing together, I won’t interfere until Yueyue speaks up.”

Fu Rongyin nodded slightly, “I understand, I’ll stand for a bit and then come down.”

Chi Jianshan did not say more, trusting that Chi Yue would handle things.

Inside the room.

Fu Mianmian finally stopped crying, and gazed at Chi Yue with her walnut-like eyes, “Mommy, I woke up and didn’t see you…”

“I’m sorry, it’s mommy’s fault. I shouldn’t have let you sleep alone.”

Fu Mianmian started to sob quietly again, “Grandpa said you were feeling gloomy tonight and wanted to be alone. I… I was scared to sleep alone when I woke up and didn’t dare disturb mommy, so I just lay down by the door. It’s the closest I could be to mommy.”

Chi Yue’s tears overwhelmed her, “You came all this way, why didn’t you knock on the door? Besides, being so close to mommy, why were you hiding and crying?”

Fu Mianmian pouted, her eyes reddening further, “I was too scared, scared that grandpa would come up and take me away…”

Chi Yue held Fu Mianmian tightly, speechless.

Wearied from crying, Fu Mianmian fell asleep in her arms. She didn’t put her down; instead, she held her the entire night.

Several times during the night, her arms went numb, she would lay Fu Mianmian down gently beside her, and lie next to her, cradling her in her arms, hoping to provide a sense of security in this way.

Meanwhile, Fu Rongyin stood outside the door, not knowing whether he had heard the noises inside. He stood there with downcast eyes all night.

The next day, Fu Mianmian woke up, seemingly forgetting the events of the previous night, with her eyes red and swollen but smiling brightly, leaving just a small slit.

Happily, she went to look for Fu Rongyin, only to be told he had left at dawn.

Fu Mianmian was disappointed, “Grandpa, is daddy busy again? Will he come back tonight?”

Chi Jianshan glanced at her, “He went to the hospital, he might need to be hospitalized.”

Seeing Chi Yue walking downstairs, he added, “He was taken away by an ambulance, his leg was bent so badly he couldn’t even straighten it.”

Of course, Fu Rongyin had not told him it was because he had stood all night; he thought it was a relapse of Fu Rongyin’s leg injury.

Chi Yue paused at his words, but that was all.
