Regret youthful ignorance
Chapter 21 Harvest
The Rat King was clever, biting Su Dazhu's armor at the neck.
Once the armor was pierced, Su Dazhu's neck would be exposed to the Rat King's sharp teeth.
The outcome was obvious.
Chen Luo undoubtedly wanted to save Su Dazhu, but the electric baton clearly couldn't threaten the Rat King in the short term.
This Rat King was at least Level 3, possibly even Level 4, and its strength lay in its physical abilities, not elemental ones.
Ordinary methods wouldn't kill it in a short time.
Chen Luo was grateful he'd broken through to become a Level 2 esper last night; otherwise, he and Su Dazhu would have surely died.
Now, there was still a glimmer of hope.
What terrible luck, running into a horde of mutant rats, including a mutated Rat King.
He was also very grateful that Fa Wang had lured away most of the mutant rats.
Chen Luo took out two slabs of pork from his spatial ability and threw them on the ground. Immediately, some of the rats couldn't resist pouncing on the pork.
Chen Luo's pressure was greatly reduced. Ignoring the rats still on him, Chen Luo quickly approached the Rat King with the electric baton.
The Rat King's eyes flashed with disdain. Could this electric baton pose a threat to me?
I'll bite him to death first, then bite you to death.
The electric baton was a feint; the true intention was to condense the Void Sword.
The Rat King was intelligent. If it sensed danger and chose to escape, Chen Luo, who could only briefly condense the Void Sword, would be finished.
With the electric baton in his left hand, his right hand was already gathering a faint light.
A ruthless glint flashed in Chen Luo's eyes. Go to hell.
The Rat King, having already pierced Su Dazhu's neck armor and about to bite him to death, suddenly felt its hair stand on end, sensing a deadly danger.
It looked at Chen Luo in shock, wanting to flee.
But it was so close to Chen Luo; was it too late to escape?
Chen Luo slashed the Rat King's neck with his sword.
Ordinary swords would be lucky to cut into the Rat King's flesh, but Chen Luo's Void Sword directly split the Rat King in two.
Head separated from body.
Strangely, no blood flowed out.
The incredibly resilient Rat King suffered such a severe blow, yet didn't die immediately.
The headless body twitched continuously, the large head desperately trying to squeeze back onto the body, wanting to reattach itself.
Although that was impossible, the Rat King could still bite.
Chen Luo, having used the Void Sword, was covered in sweat, collapsing to the ground, completely exhausted.
Su Dazhu wasn't dead weight. Without the Rat King pressing down on him, he immediately grabbed the Rat King's head and threw it far away.
After a few twitches, the Rat King fell silent.
The weakened Chen Luo smiled. The Rat King was dead, and the remaining rats were no longer a threat.
Chen Luo didn't even have the strength to hold the electric baton. He could only take it out of his spatial ability and let Su Dazhu electrocute the rats one by one.
Five minutes later, even the rats that Fa Wang had lured away were electrocuted to death.
Chen Luo barely recovered a bit of strength and sat up against the steps, taking out three bottles of mineral water from his space.
Why three bottles for Chen Luo and Su Dazhu?
Fa Wang deserved some too, right?
Taking a big gulp of water, panting heavily, Chen Luo was still shaken. He almost died.
If he hadn't brought Su Dazhu today, he probably would have been done for.
Even if he could kill the Rat King, he wouldn't have been able to deal with the remaining rats. Although the rats couldn't immediately bite through the armor, they could wear it down bit by bit.
Damn it, even though I was reborn, my strength didn't come with me. After taking the grain from the granary, I need to lie low and develop for a while.
Chen Luo stood up and patted Su Dazhu's shoulder, saying nothing, everything was understood.
Ordinary rats might not have crystals in their bodies; they were too weak. Even if they did, the effect wouldn't be as strong as zombie crystals. They were useless to Chen Luo.
Chen Luo went to the Rat King's head and, with great effort, barely managed to cut it open, taking out a crystal from its head that was less than half the size of a quail egg.
It was already large; ordinary zombie crystals were only the size of rice grains.
Besides the crystal, the Rat King had another valuable item.
That was its two sharp front teeth.
After Su Dazhu became stronger, ordinary weapons would be difficult to penetrate his body, but these two large teeth could. They would be very useful as weapons.
It wouldn't be easy to knock them out of the Rat King's mouth. Chen Luo didn't have much strength left, so he left it to Su Dazhu.
Su Dazhu also put in a lot of effort to get the two teeth.
Chen Luo said, "Let's go, let's go into the basement and take a look."
The rat swarm had been dealt with, so the basement should be safe. Even if zombies went in, the rat swarm would attack.
If Chen Luo had come a few days later, he probably wouldn't have seen any zombies outside the granary.
But Chen Luo still cautiously entered the granary, with Fa Wang constantly patrolling.
Besides a dozen human remains and a few mutant rats, there was nothing else.
Chen Luo turned on the basement lights, illuminating the entire basement.
It was endless and very spacious.
Sacks of grain were piled high.
Chen Luo didn't look much; he wanted to secure it first.
It wasn't until after eight o'clock in the evening that Chen Luo loaded all the grain into his spatial ability.
Chen Luo estimated that there were 60,000 tons of rice and 20,000 tons of flour.
This was the largest granary in Shanghai. There were other granaries, but Chen Luo didn't plan to go; they were too far and too dangerous.
He almost crashed today.
That much grain was enough for ten thousand people to eat for decades.
It was more than enough.
Besides, the spatial ability was almost full; it couldn't hold any more.
Su Dazhu opened his mouth wide, "Brother, how big is your spatial ability?"
Chen Luo smiled, "Not too big, about the size of this granary."
Chen Luo said with a serious face, "Dazhu, you must never carelessly reveal that I've hoarded so many supplies, no matter who it is. You can't say anything."
Su Dazhu was the silent type, speaking very little, but Chen Luo still emphasized it.
Su Dazhu also nodded seriously, "Don't worry, brother, I know. I won't say anything, even if you beat me to death."
In his previous life, Chen Luo only had Su Dazhu as a brother. In this life, with Chen Luo's current state of mind, it would probably be difficult for anyone to be considered a true brother.
Friends and brothers are two different things.
This one brother from two lifetimes was more important than anything.
The granary's electricity was cut off around seven o'clock. If Chen Luo remembered correctly, most of the city had lost power by this time.
It was very dark, and driving wasn't safe. Chen Luo decided to rest in the heavy truck overnight and return the next morning.
After absorbing the crystal again, Chen Luo didn't continue to level up. It would take about 150 crystals to advance to a Level 3 esper.
That would take at least three more days.
Afraid that Su Dazhu would be bored, Chen Luo took out a fully charged phone and headphones for Su Dazhu to play single-player games or watch movies.
This phone had a 512g capacity.
The heavy truck's cab was very large, specially reserved for the living space of two drivers.
Chen Luo also took out a phone and started watching a movie.
Unexpectedly, Fa Wang was behind Chen Luo, also watching with great interest.
