Chapter 20 Mutant Rat King

Chapter 1 The Current Situation

The situation wasn't about whether Chen Luo wanted to enter the grain depot's basement; it was that the rat horde had picked up the scent of Chen Luo and the others and swarmed out.

Chen Luo wasn't afraid of ordinary rat swarms, even if they numbered in the hundreds.

The key was not knowing the size of the rat swarm. If it was thousands, then it was game over.

Currently, Chen Luo lacked large-scale killing methods. Once surrounded and knocked to the ground, he could only wait for death.

The stun baton definitely couldn't kill a large number of rats; it had limited battery life.

Not understanding the specific situation, Chen Luo was absolutely unwilling to fight to the death. He grabbed Su Dazhu and ran.

Chen Luo finally understood why there were no survivors at the grain depot.

With the sharp teeth of the mutated rats, only solid, thick iron doors like those on safes could withstand them. Ordinary anti-theft doors and wooden office doors were no match for the rats.

The rats also had excellent senses of smell. Unless survivors escaped the grain depot, they had no chance of survival.

Fawang, seeing a dark mass of creatures rushing out of the basement, was also startled and quickly fled.

Fawang called out anxiously.

The meaning was: you guys run first, I'll draw them away.

Fawang also judged that the rats were not zombies. Their speed was completely unmatched by zombies. The two people in armor would definitely be caught up quickly.

Chen Luo and Su Dazhu ran towards the outside of the office building. As long as they got into the heavy truck, although they couldn't use it to deal with small rats, they would be basically safe.

Fawang chose to run down a corridor to the right.

It couldn't run in the same direction as Chen Luo and the others. With its speed, it would definitely outpace them.

The lagging Chen Luo and his companion would definitely be out of luck.

But only some of the rats that had come out first chased after Fawang.

Although the rats were fast, they were still a bit slower than Fawang, who had awakened his lightning abilities.

A very large rat, about the same size as Fawang, glanced at the fleeing dog, hesitated slightly, and then chose the direction of Chen Luo and Su Dazhu.

People still tasted better.

Despite its huge size, the Rat King wasn't clumsy at all. It was no slower than Fawang.

If it wasn't slower than Fawang, then it was definitely much faster than Chen Luo and the others.

Chen Luo heard movement behind him but didn't look back. Running was the right thing to do.

Just as Chen Luo reached the steps of the office building and was about to run out, the Rat King leaped high and slammed into Chen Luo viciously.

The force was extraordinary.

Ordinary sharp objects couldn't penetrate the armor, but the powerful force couldn't be isolated or negated by the armor.

Chen Luo felt a sharp pain in his back, and his body fell forward uncontrollably.

Chen Luo fell heavily to the ground, the armor on his body only adding to the pain.

Chen Luo didn't have time to worry about the pain and quickly got up, but two seconds was enough for the rat swarm to catch up with Chen Luo and Su Dazhu.

Su Dazhu looked back and felt his hair stand on end.

Hundreds of black rats were surging over, each one more than twice the size of a normal rat.

A Rat King with an astonishing size was looking at him bloodthirstily.

The Rat King's fur was gray-black, dirty and greasy, with a wet look, as if it had just been fished out of the sewer.

Most noticeable were its two large incisors exposed outside its mouth, about a dozen centimeters long, gleaming with light.

Su Dazhu had never seen such a rat before, and he felt cold all over.

But Su Dazhu stepped forward and said, "Brother, you go first, I'll hold them back."

Chen Luo sighed in his heart. It wasn't a question of whether you could hold them back; you couldn't hold them back at all.

Even if you could, in this life, I would be the one to hold them back so you could live.

The rats didn't say any harsh words before fighting and pounced directly.

Chen Luo and Su Dazhu were attacked at the same time.

Hundreds of rats pounced together, some jumping directly onto Chen Luo's legs, some jumping onto Chen Luo's chest, and then climbing up.

In just a moment, Chen Luo and Su Dazhu were covered in rats.

Rats pressed against rats, densely packed, looking like two rat-men from a distance, the armor no longer visible.

There were at least fifty or sixty rats on each person.

Other rats had no place to stand and squeaked anxiously.

Each of these rats weighed more than a pound, and with the force applied, Chen Luo felt like he was carrying a sack weighing more than a hundred pounds.

He wasn't knocked down, but he could barely stand, unable to move an inch.

The Rat King watched coldly from the side. After its little brothers bit these two people to death, of course, it, the big brother, would eat first.

If it weren't for the armor, anyone else would have been bitten to death in seconds.

The teeth of ordinary rats couldn't bite through Chen Luo's custom-made armor.

Chen Luo cursed inwardly, took out his stun baton, and started shocking them.

The rats were small, and with their density, the half-meter-long stun baton could shock at least three or four at a time.

The vitality of ordinary rats was certainly not comparable to that of zombies. Zombies would be stunned instantly, while ordinary rats would die on contact.

Chen Luo had considered this situation, and the custom-made armor was mixed with non-conductive materials.

The shocked rats fell to the ground one after another.

But in the next second, the remaining rats, waiting anxiously, filled the space.

The number of rats wasn't the thousands or even thousands that Chen Luo had anticipated, which reassured him a lot.

The stun baton was enough to kill these rats.

But the Rat King, who hadn't made a move yet, made Chen Luo's heart sink.

Mutant.

In the apocalypse, the strength of all creatures, whether survivors, zombies, or mutated creatures, increased slowly.

But some zombies or mutated creatures would undergo mutations, and their strength would suddenly skyrocket.

These mutants were like overdrafting their life potential. Their lifespan was only a few months at most, or even just a few hours. The more their strength increased, the shorter their lifespan.

And their strength would be fixed, unable to continue growing.

But no matter how long they lived, encountering them alive was as unlucky as stepping in dog poop.

The Rat King in front of him was clearly a mutant. Otherwise, on the second day of the apocalypse, it would have been impossible for it to grow to this size.

Fawang, who had attracted some of the rats, ran to the end of the corridor but crashed into the glass at the end without slowing down, breaking through the window and escaping.

Fawang ignored the pain and quickly ran to Chen Luo's side, barking loudly, trying to lure the rat swarm away.

The rats that couldn't attach themselves to Chen Luo and Su Dazhu were less intelligent. Immediately, most of them chased after Fawang again.

The Rat King narrowed its eyes, thinking that it would be difficult to catch up with the dog at its speed, so it was better to eat people first.

This time, it took the lead in attacking Su Dazhu in front, leaping fiercely, the powerful force immediately knocking Su Dazhu down.

In a moment of danger, Su Dazhu didn't panic. Su Dazhu grimly pressed the stun baton firmly against the Rat King's body.

But the usually effective stun baton lost its effect. The Rat King only showed a trace of pain on its face.

Instead, it bit down on the armor with even more force.

With a "crack" sound, a deep gap was bitten into the solid armor. One more bite, and the armor would be pierced.
