Wei Jie
Chapter 36 Exciting Night
Inside the Su family's garbage dump in Zha Nan.
Su Tianyu led the team, with Kong Zhenghui, Bai Hongbo, and Su Tianbei, among other core family members, all assembled. After all, this was their first time doing this kind of work, so everyone took it quite seriously, deploying their full strength.
After the group had discussed the pick-up route, they were about to set off together, but before they left, Da Xiong, who hadn't gone home the night before, found Su Tianyu alone: "Li...Little Yu Brother...there's work tonight...right?"
Da Xiong didn't usually like to go home. Even if he got off work early and had nothing to do, he preferred to stay at the garbage dump, sometimes even living there.
Su Tianyu glanced at him: "Who told you that?"
"I...I heard Third Sister say it at noon, hehe." Da Xiong smiled憨厚ly. "Can...can you take me along?"
"This job is a bit dangerous. We're picking up goods at sea."
"I...I'm fine...if you guys can do it, so can I. I'm not afraid of hard work. I want to earn more money." Da Xiong replied proactively, "Just take me with you."
"Why are you so eager to earn extra money?"
"...I...I have to support myself...save money to buy...buy a house and get a wife." Da Xiong replied earnestly.
"Alright, then you can come along, but listen to orders, okay!" Su Tianyu instructed.
"Okay, I'll listen." Da Xiong nodded emphatically.
After the two finished talking, Kong Zhenghui waved his hand and shouted, "Let's go, everyone get in the car."
...
Late at night, around 11:30 PM, about thirty kilometers outside the Zha Nan District's civilian port, Su Tianbei and Bai Hongbo led people to push three speedboats into the water and covered them with tarpaulins to prevent the metal from reflecting in the moonlight.
Su Tianyu, smoking a cigarette, stood on a reef at the edge of the beach, gazing at the sea, and glanced down at his watch.
"Not here yet?" Kong Zhenghui walked over and asked.
"Not yet." Su Tianyu looked at Kong Zhenghui with some doubt and asked, "Do you think the higher-ups can really cover this? If so much cargo comes in and we get caught by the coast guard, we'll be locked up until we're sixty."
"Brother, tell me, what kind of work these days doesn't involve any risk?" Kong Zhenghui retorted.
Su Tianyu fell silent.
"We live in this era, where the bold get rich and the timid starve." Kong Zhenghui also looked at the sea and replied, "You have to be able to seize opportunities when they come."
Su Tianyu smiled: "That's true."
The cold wind blew, and the group hid behind the reefs, waiting quietly.
Over an hour passed. Just as Su Tianyu was about to urge Yu Mingyuan, the phone with his new SIM card rang in his pocket: "Hello?"
"Get in the water. I've taken care of things on my end," Tang Baiqing's voice sounded.
"Alright, alright!"
"You guys need to move fast, the tide's going out in an hour and a half," Tang Baiqing urged.
"Understood." Su Tianyu nodded and hung up the phone, then turned around and shouted, "Push the boats, into the water!"
At his command, more than twenty people uncovered the tarpaulins and jumped onto the speedboats with practiced movements. Those responsible for steering started the diesel engines, and the deafening noise of the motors filled the air.
Sitting in the first speedboat, Su Tianyu couldn't help but sigh, "Damn, I, a graduate of the Staff College, never thought I'd be doing this kind of petty thievery."
"Stop bitching. Do you want to make money or save face?" Bai Hongbo, squatting in the speedboat, urged, "Hurry up, let's go!"
"Vroom, vroom, vroom!"
The motors roared, and the three speedboats left the beach, heading straight for the outer harbor.
On the sea, the cold wind howled and the waves rolled.
The three speedboats sped for about half an hour before reaching the edge of the inner harbor, where they saw a transport ship with a deadweight of about 80,000 tons.
Su Tianyu turned his head to look around, and could vaguely see the lights of the coast guard patrol boats and patrol ships.
"Signal, quick!" Su Tianbei ordered.
As soon as he finished speaking, three people took out flashlights and began to signal the cargo ship with light signals.
About half a minute later, someone on the second deck of the cargo ship responded with a flashlight.
"Move closer." Su Tianyu waved to the speedboats.
The three speedboats circled around to the left rear of the cargo ship and used the ropes they had brought to tie onto the iron anchor hanging on the side of the ship. Then, the sailors on the ship responsible for supplying the goods began to lower the cargo with ropes.
Box after box of sealed goods fell from above, and the people below efficiently stacked the goods neatly to save space.
During this time, Su Tianyu kept an eye on the coast guard patrol ships in the distance, but saw that they didn't move toward their side at all.
Time passed second by second. Goods worth about four hundred thousand were all stacked on the three speedboats, and at this point, there was almost no room for anyone to move. They could only sit on the goods.
This was their first time transporting goods, mainly to test the waters, so the quantity of goods was not large, but even so, the initial profit would be at least around half.
"Is the count right?" Kong Zhenghui asked Su Tianyu.
"Enough," Su Tianyu nodded.
"Signal, let's go." Kong Zhenghui ordered.
As soon as he finished speaking, the people on the speedboat waved their flashlights again, signaling to the other side. Then, Su Tianbei and the others removed the iron chains that were attached to the side of the ship, and everyone quickly retreated from the pick-up area.
On the way back, the speedboats cut through the waves, and everyone sat on the cargo with solemn expressions, without saying a word.
In fact, everyone was very nervous. They all knew that this kind of thing made money, but they also understood the consequences of being caught.
Soon, the scene of the beach appeared in front of everyone. When the speedboat returned to the docking point, even Kong Zhenghui, who had an explosive psychological quality, breathed a sigh of relief and wiped the sweat from his forehead.
"Damn, we're finally back. This hour felt like a century," Su Tianbei muttered as he got off the boat. "I wasn't even this nervous when I was fighting Lu Feng."
This was not an exaggeration. Sometimes courage is a strange thing. Some people might be daredevils when it comes to fighting, but if you asked them to steal something, they wouldn't dare to. They didn't have the psychological fortitude.
Everyone got off the speedboat and transferred the goods to three trucks specifically used by the Dirty Gang. Then, Su Tianyu spoke up and shouted, "Let's go, let's get out of here."
"Hurry, hurry, get in the car!" Bai Hongbo also called out.
"Leave a few people behind to take the speedboat back to the third floor and clean up the traces," Kong Zhenghui instructed.
"I...I'll stay behind." Da Xiong seemed to care a lot about this extra job. He performed very well throughout the process, working hard without saying a word. It could be said that he was a very nice employee.
"Okay, you can stay and clean up." Su Tianyu opened the car door and replied softly, "The rest of you, get the goods away first."
As soon as he finished speaking, just as everyone was about to get in the car and leave, the sound of motors suddenly rang out on the desolate road to the left.
Su Tianyu looked up into the distance and saw the lights of two cars sweeping over.
"Holy shit, coast guard, run!" Bai Hongbo shouted and prepared to flee.
"Crap, don't talk nonsense. The coast guard wouldn't just have two cars," Su Tianbei cursed. "Why are you panicking!"
Hearing this, Bai Hongbo stopped and hid next to the car, looking toward the intersection.
Two cars came hurriedly and stopped in front of the trucks.
The headlights were blinding. Seven or eight strong men got out of the two SUVs. The leader was about 1.75 meters tall, with a crew cut, a square face, thick eyebrows, and a heroic look. He was extremely stout and walked over with steady steps.
"So it really is the Dirty Gang's cars." The square-faced man glanced at the trucks, walked up to Bai Hongbo, and said in a calm tone, "Brothers, you've crossed the line, haven't you?"
"Who are you?" When Bai Hongbo saw that the other party wasn't the coast guard and that there were only seven or eight of them, his momentum immediately rose.
"We make our living on the road. Touching business on the sea without even saying hello is a bit out of line, right?" A young man next to the square-faced man said with a smile, with his hands behind his back, "Leave the goods, and you can go. Have your boss come over to pick them up later."
"Who are you that you can just confiscate the goods?!" Even Bai Hongbo, as stupid as he was, could understand that the people in front of him were definitely from the road and had come to extort them.
"I said, leave the goods, and you can go," the young man repeated again.
"Leave your mother!" Seeing that the other party had few people, Bai Hongbo didn't care about them at all, and just stepped forward, saying, "Get out of the way!"
As soon as he finished speaking, two of the Bai family's men took out daggers from their pockets and surrounded him, while Su Tianbei, Kong Zhenghui, and the others also stepped forward.
"Are you going to make a move?" The young man squinted at Bai Hongbo and asked sharply.
"I told you to get out of the way!" Bai Hongbo said with a sullen face and reached out to push the crew-cut man.
"Slap!"
The crew-cut man raised his hand to push away Bai Hongbo's wrist and kicked Bai Hongbo in the abdomen with an extremely fast kick.
"Thud!"
Bai Hongbo, who weighed at least 180 pounds, was actually kicked down.
"Damn you!" The Bai family's man on the left stabbed the crew-cut man with a knife.
"Slap!"
The crew-cut man didn't move his left hand, but just sidestepped to dodge, grabbed the Bai family's man's wrist with his right hand, twisted it down with a snap, and directly slammed his knee into the other person's abdomen.
"Thud!"
The young man with the knife fell to the ground at an angle.
The crew-cut man's movements were fluid. He only took a step back to avoid the other person's attack, and then struck the side of the last Bai family's man's head with a fierce elbow.
"Clang!"
The young man's eyes flashed with stars, and he crashed into the car with his back, but didn't fall down.
Su Tianbei and the others were stunned for a moment, then picked up their weapons and were about to charge forward.
The crew-cut man stood still. The young man next to him took out a black, shiny pistol and pointed it directly at Su Tianbei's head, saying in a normal tone, "Damn it! Are you blind? Do you know who he is? This is Wei Xiangzuo, the enforcer of the Zha Nan Code Gang! You dare to make a move here? Are you tired of living?!"
