Chapter 37 Holding Court, Wei Xiangzuo

Chapter 1 A Brush with Danger

As soon as the gun appeared, Su Tianyu stepped forward and waved his hand, shouting, "Second Brother, Kong, don't move!"

Su Tianbei, Kong Zheng Hui and the others watched the man with the gun, their bodies still, but their eyes fixed on him.

"You're not convinced, huh?" The young man with the gun pointed it at Su Tianbei's head, frowning as he shouted, "Stab him!"

As soon as he finished speaking, two men stepped forward, gripping their knives, ready to stab.

Su Tianyu stepped forward and grabbed his second brother's arm, using half of his body to shield him. "Brothers, it's not that we're crossing the line. We thought the higher-ups had sorted everything out along the coast before we got involved. It's a misunderstanding, a misunderstanding."

Wei Xiangzuo, a man with a buzz cut, knocked down three people with a kick, a knee, and an elbow before turning his head and instructing the young man with the gun, "They're just some little pups who've just come out to test the waters, don't make things difficult for them."

Only then did the young man shout again, "Everyone, squat down!"

The others hesitated, but Su Tianyu immediately yelled, "Quick, quick, everyone squat down."

Kong Zheng Hui glanced at Su Tianyu and was the first to squat down beside the truck, holding his head. Seeing that he wasn't resisting, the others followed suit, squatting down in a row.

In fact, Su Tianyu's decision to de-escalate the situation was the wisest choice, because the division of labor for this deal was very clear. The Su, Bai, and Kong families were only responsible for receiving, transporting, and distributing the goods, not for building relationships or paving the way.

Was it a coincidence that this batch of goods was intercepted as soon as it hit the beach? This showed that these people had been watching them for a long time and had come with a clear purpose. It was Yu Mingyuan's responsibility to sort out the coastal connections, and he should be the one to resolve this, not the Su, Bai, and Kong families, who were just doing the legwork.

The most important thing in life is to understand your role. Take on as much as your abilities allow. Being too ambitious can end up hurting yourself and others.

After the group squatted down, Wei Xiangzuo didn't make things difficult for them, or even bother to talk to them. Only the young man with the gun told them to contact their boss.

Su Tianyu immediately did so, calling Yu Mingyuan.

After contacting the higher-ups, all that was left for them to do was wait. Su Tianbei and Bai Hongbo repeatedly asked Tianyu, "What did they say? Can this be resolved?"

"Yu is contacting them, just wait," Su Tianyu replied softly, then lowered his head and asked the two of them, "I heard earlier that guy is a 'zuo tang' of some wharf gang. What does that mean?"

"It means what it sounds like, they operate at the Zhanan wharf, but I heard that Wei Xiangzuo disappeared several years ago. I don't know when he came back," Su Tianbei replied.

Su Tianyu nodded and said nothing more.

After about half an hour, a car drove from the south highway and slowly stopped to the right of Wei Xiangzuo's vehicles.

The car door opened, and Tang Baiqing of the Coast Guard walked out with a smile. "Hey, Brother Wei, long time no see!"

Wei Xiangzuo also opened his door and got out. "What's the situation, Baiqing?"

"My friend's company needs to transport some goods, so I asked some brothers from the Zang gang to help out. These days, the team is full of bad business, and I forgot to give you a heads up," Tang Baiqing said to him politely. "Sorry, Brother Wei, have a smoke!"

"A brother who watches the docks called me and said that someone was pulling a line to receive a ship at Haiyan Pit," Wei Xiangzuo said, letting Tang Baiqing light his cigarette. Then, he exhaled a thick cloud of smoke and said with a light laugh, "I was wondering which gang was trying to steal our business, but I didn't expect it was your friend."

"We're all family, sorry, I didn't follow the rules."

"Long-term or short-term?" Wei Xiangzuo asked, narrowing his eyes.

"It's like this..." Tang Baiqing pulled Wei Xiangzuo to the side of the car and talked to him privately.

Su Tianyu squatted on the other side of the car, unable to see them or hear their conversation.

After about three to five minutes, Wei Xiangzuo waved his hand at Tang Baiqing and said, "Okay, that's it then, we'll be leaving."

"Alright, Brother Wei, I'll treat you these next few days!"

"Hehe, it's nothing." Wei Xiangzuo waved his hand, got into his car with his men, and left.

Tang Baiqing turned around and immediately began to shout, "Come on, hurry up and get the goods out of here, quick!"

Su Tianyu was in charge of receiving and delivering the goods, so he immediately went over and asked after seeing Wei Xiangzuo and the others leave, "Is everything alright now?"

Tang Baiqing returned to his lazy demeanor, yawning as he replied, "Damn, they just wanted to come and make a point, give us a verbal warning. It's nothing, I've known them for a long time, it'll be business as usual."

"That's good." Su Tianyu nodded.

After the small, but alarming, incident ended, the group immediately drove away from the scene.

At a little after five in the morning, when the group returned to the garbage dump, Yu Mingyuan's car had also arrived. Tang Baiqing and Su Tianyu got into his car together.

"No problems with the wharf gang?" Yu Mingyuan asked directly.

"It's nothing, hehe!" Tang Baiqing loosened his collar. "It's all settled."

Yu Mingyuan paused, took out 50,000 yuan from his bag, and threw it next to Tang Baiqing. "Take this money and grease some palms."

"Oh, no need!" Tang Baiqing didn't even look at the 50,000 yuan, and replied forcefully, "I'm from the Coast Guard, I specialize in dealing with wharf gangs. If I were to give them tribute, how would I ever show my face again?"

"Really, no need?" Yu Mingyuan asked, looking at him.

"No need, I'll just get together with those guys from the wharf gang later." Tang Baiqing glanced at his watch. "Alright, it's getting late, I'm heading back."

Yu Mingyuan looked at him and teased, "You should live a healthier life, too. Don't keep getting those injections."

"Life is boring, just looking for some fun," Tang Baiqing replied casually, opened the door, got out of the car, and left the garbage dump.

"Have all the goods been counted?" Yu Mingyuan asked Su Tianyu.

"Yes, they've been counted."

"...!" Yu Mingyuan thought for a moment, then picked up his bag again, took out three more bundles of cash, and threw them to Su Tianyu. "The profit for this batch of goods is about 270,000 yuan. According to what we agreed on before, each of your three families gets 10 percent. That's 85,000 yuan. Take this and distribute it to everyone. You can have the leftover change."

"The goods haven't even been distributed yet, and we're already dividing the money?" Su Tianyu asked with a smile.

"Now that they've landed, this small amount of goods will be distributed in a matter of minutes. Linda will give you the address later, and you can just deliver it," Yu Mingyuan replied.

Su Tianyu looked at the 85,000 yuan in cash, his eyes slightly dazed, and at the same time, he began to take this industry seriously.

A profit of more than 80,000 yuan in less than six or seven hours. What's the difference between this and printing money?

"In the future, there will be a dedicated accountant to reconcile accounts with you. This time, we'll just do it this way," Yu Mingyuan added.

"Alright." Su Tianyu nodded and got out of the car. "Take care, boss!"

"Hehe." Yu Mingyuan smiled and drove away.

Su Tianyu took the cash and shouted, "Second Brother, you distribute the money to everyone."

Su Tianbei took the money and started handing out wages to everyone.

Kong Zheng Hui walked over and stood next to Su Tianyu, saying, "This business is so damn profitable!"

Su Tianyu glanced at him. "Don't you think... something was a little strange tonight?"

"What's so strange?" Kong Zheng Hui was taken aback.

"The goods had barely been on the beach for five minutes before they showed up. The wharf gang seems to have better information than the customs officials." Su Tianyu turned his head and looked around, adding in a low voice, "...Our location is so hidden, and there's a big open space around it. I'm just wondering, how did they spot us?"

Kong Zheng Hui blinked his eyes, and his expression also became strange.
