Chapter 756: Road To Godhood?

Looking at the Kakuna putting on a 'I’m scared, I give up' face, Julian said disdainfully, "So you're scared already?"

In its heart, Kakuna was cursing nonstop. 'If only my swarm hadn’t already fled, you’d know just how fearsome Beedrill can be.'

In the wild or in secret realms, some Pokémon might be weak individually, but once the swarm grows big enough, their threat skyrockets.

Of course, no matter how many Beedrill there were, they wouldn’t be enough to take on Julian—unless there was a Champion-level Beedrill among them.

"Meta~"

Metagross was back.

Julian had sent it off earlier with the Dowsing Machine to sweep through the remaining unexplored areas of the secret realm.

"Well? Any luck?" Julian asked.

Since the secret realm was going to be destroyed anyway, if there were any valuable treasures left, he might as well grab them now.

Metagross shook its head. Sure, there were some red dots, but none of them were large enough, so it hadn’t bothered collecting them.

Julian wasn’t particularly surprised. This Top-tier secret realm had been around for seventy or eighty years—if there was anything good, Pannar’s people would’ve taken it long ago.

Still, Julian felt somewhat unwilling to give up without finding the cause of the secret realm’s destruction. After all, this was his first international mission.

Technically, the mission’s only requirement had been to stop the Pokémon riot.

But when he got here, he realized that the riot wasn’t the disease, just the symptom—the real cause was the secret realm itself heading toward destruction.

"So what now…"

Julian leaned against the tree trunk, muttering to himself.

Celebi: "Take a chill pill."

Celebi chimed in.

Julian: "Keep talking and I’ll turn you into a pill."

As he spoke, he grabbed Celebi off his head and gave it a light flick on the forehead. This guy was becoming more and more useless lately.

"Mew~"

Just as Julian was pinching Celebi’s chubby cheeks, a sound suddenly rang in his ears.

Kartana shouted: "Who goes there?!"

With that, it swung a Sacred Sword straight at the Pokémon that had suddenly appeared.

"Hold your blade, it’s Mew!" Julian hastily shouted.

But it was already too late—the Sacred Sword had already struck.

"Mew~"

Mew gently pointed a tiny finger at the attack, and with a crack, the Sacred Sword instantly crumbled into dust.

Kartana: ⊙﹏⊙

"Mew, what are you doing here?"

Julian looked at the suddenly appeared Mew with pleasant surprise.

Celebi: "You b*tch, why are you here?!"

Unlike Julian’s delight, Celebi bared its teeth and claws at Mew. Luckily Julian was holding it back, or it would’ve already started throwing punches.

The moment Celebi saw that 'manipulative' Mew, it felt like the intruder had come to steal its spot.

Mew circled around Julian, completely ignoring Celebi.

"Mew~"

It then took out a Pokéblock box and popped it open—empty.

The meaning was clear: 'I’ve finished all the Pokéblocks you gave me, so I came to find you.'

Julian remembered he had given Mew ten boxes last time.

Of course, several months had passed since then, so it was perfectly normal for them to be finished.

"How did you find me?" Julian asked curiously.

Mew tilted its head: "Is it hard? If I want to find you, I find you."

Alright, the abilities of a First-class Legendary couldn’t be measured by common sense—especially not Mew, who was known as the ancestor of all Pokémon.

There was no ability it didn’t possess—even Aura powers, it had boosted Julian’s all the way to the Master tier.

Julian had wondered before whether Mew would come find him after finishing the Pokéblocks, and just as he had thought, Mew really did show up.

He glanced at Celebi, then at Mew. 'Could it be that this guy also has the potential to be a foodie?'

Julian didn’t waste words. He simply pulled out ten more boxes of Mew’s exclusive Pokéblocks and handed them over.

Mew squinted happily as it accepted them, deciding this human was the best human it had ever met.

Celebi: "B*tch. You’ve got your stuff—now scram."

"Mew~"

Mew: "This secret realm is nearing its end. Why haven’t you left yet?"

Seeing Mew completely ignore it again made Celebi’s blood boil.

Julian, however, immediately clapped a hand over Celebi’s mouth before it could start yapping, and turned to Mew: "Mew, do you know why this secret realm is being destroyed?"

He didn’t know the reason, but maybe Mew did.

Mew nodded, then said casually: "Because a Pokémon is absorbing the energy of the entire secret realm."

"Absorbing the energy of the entire secret realm? What for?"

Julian was stunned. The amount of energy in a Top-tier secret realm was unimaginable. What Pokémon could possibly have the ability to absorb the energy of an entire secret realm?

Mew: "Obviously—to break through and become a god."

'Break through… and become a god?'

Julian asked in a low voice: "You mean to become a First-class Legendary?"

Mew nodded.

Existing First-class Legendary Pokémon were born with their power—their authority was bestowed by the world itself, making each of them a child of the world.

For other Pokémon to break through to the First-class Legendary level was incredibly difficult, akin to a mortal attaining immortality. Up until now, not a single ordinary Pokémon had ever achieved it.

If you weren’t born as a First-class Legendary, you basically had no chance of ever becoming one.

And now, Mew was telling him that a Pokémon was draining an entire Top-tier secret realm to try and force its way into godhood.

'Damn, that's insanely badass.'

"Do you know which Pokémon it is?" Read complete version only at n͟o͟v͟e͟l͟f͟i͟r͟e͟.net

Julian was extremely curious—which Pokémon had both the guts and the ability to even attempt this?

Mew nodded and waved its tiny hand, projecting an image of a Pokémon in front of Julian.

"Genesect?!"

Julian was taken aback. He hadn’t expected it to be this Pokémon.

Genesect was a Mythical Bug/Steel-type Pokémon.

But below the First-class Legendary level, whether it was a Pseudo-Legendary, a Mythical Pokémon, or even a Legendary Pokémon—they were still just mortal beings.

And for a mortal to attempt to become a god was an act of defiance against the world, and it was almost impossible to succeed.

"Mew, if my Metagross wants to become a First-class Legendary, could it use the same method?" Julian asked eagerly.

Even though Metagross wasn’t at the Champion-level yet, its potential was nearly Gold grade—a grade only First-class Legendaries possessed.

As for how one might actually break through to that tier, Julian had never had a clue.

But now, this Genesect had given him a reference: absorbing the energy of a Top-tier secret realm. If this method really worked, Julian wouldn’t hesitate to destroy a Top-tier secret realm to help Metagross achieve it.

If it was really feasible, he would do it not just once, but ten times if necessary.

As for how many Pokémon and humans might perish in the process, he couldn’t care less.

He could simply avoid choosing Top-tier secret realms in countries and find the ones on the open sea.

This was kind of similar to Norman’s ambition, but unfortunately, Norman failed and died—and he died as a sinner.
