Chapter 757: Absorbing The Secret Realm’s Energy

Since Genesect could attempt to become a First-class Legendary by absorbing the energy of an entire secret realm, Julian wondered if his Metagross could do the same.

Facing Julian's question, Mew shook its head: "Becoming a god isn't that simple. Genesect won’t succeed."

If all it took was draining one Top-tier secret realm, then the method would be far too easy. Not just one—even ten wouldn’t work.

"Then how does one actually become a god?" Julian asked quickly.

Mew’s words had already killed the crazy thought he’d just had. Still, if Mew had said it was possible, then in the future, when Metagross hit the peak of the Champion tier with no hope of further breakthrough—Julian absolutely would’ve gone through with it.

Mew shook its head again, indicating it didn't know. After all, it had been a First-class Legendary since the moment it was born. Asking it how to become one was somewhat unfair.

Julian didn’t press further and instead asked, "Mew, we’re planning to leave this secret realm. Aren’t you going back to the World Tree?"

Now that he knew the secret realm's destruction was caused by Genesect in its attempt to break through to First-class Legendary status—that meant its current strength had to be at the peak of Champion tier, level 100.

How was he supposed to fight that? Even if all his Pokémon joined the battle, they wouldn’t stand a chance. So, Julian immediately gave up on the mission.

Unless Mew was willing to help, but Julian didn’t want to casually waste his goodwill with Mew on Pannar.

Most people were selfish, and Julian was no exception. He wanted his relationship with Mew to be something he could rely on in truly critical moments—whether for himself, his family, or Drakoria.

As for Pannar? Yeah, forget it.

Mew tilted its head, puzzled: "Leaving already? Even though Metagross can’t become a god by absorbing the secret realm’s energy, it can still quickly reach the Champion-level."

Julian immediately stopped in his tracks.

He and Metagross both turned to look at Mew, their eyes gleaming intensely.

"Really?"

Mew nodded.

Mew: "But this requires Genesect’s cooperation."

"How?" Julian asked.

Mew: "Just let it transfer some of the energy it has absorbed into Metagross."

Julian was speechless. That Genesect surely wasn’t some kind-hearted saint, and Julian had no life-saving favor to call in. Why on earth would it hand over its precious energy just to help Metagross become a Champion?

There was no reason at all. Especially since Genesect needed that energy to break through itself. Helping Metagross would only slow down its own progress.

Mew: "I can help with that."

As it spoke, it waved its little paw—and in an instant, Julian, Metagross, and Celebi vanished from the spot.

The next second, Julian and his Pokémon appeared in an unfamiliar place—Mew materializing alongside them.

Before Julian could even ask where they were, he spotted a purple, saucer-like Pokémon lying on a stone platform not far away.

---

The sleeping Pokémon before them was Genesect. So Mew had actually brought them here.

As Julian had guessed, Genesect was indeed level 100, just one step away from godhood—though that single step was impossibly difficult.

Mew had said it would not succeed, and Julian believed it.

Mew: "This is one hundred kilometers underground."

Julian’s eyes widened. No wonder his Dowsing Machine hadn’t found anything. Given Genesect’s potential, if it had been within the Dowsing Machine’s 50-kilometer range, it would have lit up with a massive red dot. But buried twice that depth? Of course nothing showed up.

"Meta~"

Metagross: "The Steel-type energy here is incredibly dense."

Mew swayed its tail, covering its mouth with a playful smile: "I will help Metagross. Release all your other Steel-types too."

Though still somewhat skeptical, Julian released all his Steel-type Pokémon.

"Will breaking through like this have any side effects—like leaving them stuck forever with no room for future progress?" Julian asked worriedly.

If there were any unacceptable side effects, he’d rather not take this shortcut.

With his abilities, if he followed a steady development path, it would take at most two or three years for Metagross to reach the Champion level.

Mew: "Don’t worry, your Pokémon have very solid foundations, especially Metagross. Nothing bad will happen."

"That’s good then." Julian nodded.

Indeed, his team’s foundations were rock-solid. That was why they could fight opponents of the same rank as if they were battling rookies.

But that strength came with a price—each breakthrough required far more time and resources than ordinary Pokémon.

Then, with a wave of Mew’s tiny hand, all the Steel-type energy that had originally been flowing toward Genesect was diverted, rushing instead into Julian’s Steel-type Pokémon.

As the massive influx of Steel-type energy poured into their bodies, the Pokémon’s expressions turned euphoric, as if they were on some kind of high.

Julian quickly opened their status panels, monitoring every detail of their physical data. If anything went wrong, he was prepared to stop Mew immediately.

But after observing for a while, all of their stats were steadily rising. Nothing seemed abnormal.

Only then did Julian feel relieved and turned his attention to Genesect, worried that the lack of Steel-type energy might cause it to wake up.

However, the status panel showed that it was still in a deep slumber. While it could no longer absorb Steel-type energy, it could still draw on Bug-type energy.

Julian had no Bug-types on his team, and suddenly felt a twinge of regret—such a great opportunity was going to waste.

He thought about that Kakuna he had chatted with earlier and wondered why he hadn’t just captured it on a whim.

If he had, it could have enjoyed the entire secret realm’s Bug-type energy all by itself—and soared beyond its limits! Too bad that little guy just didn’t have the fate for it.
