Chapter 715 I'll Listen to You

Su Kangxi nodded and said, "This pharmaceutical company is also on an island, approved by the United Kingdom government of this archipelago. But after Lu Yuanhong's accident, the company stopped production, yet no one applied for bankruptcy with the local government. So why would Allen hand over raw materials to such a defunct company? What can they produce, and how much money can they earn?"

"Can you confirm it's stopped production, that no one is managing this company anymore? Who is in charge now?" Tianyi suddenly thought of someone, Jia Nanfang, whose whereabouts had been untraceable.

Lu Yuanhong and Amei were both gone. Of the companies they had run, Jia Nanfang knew best.

Could she be hiding in this pharmaceutical company, claiming it was shut down but actually still producing something?

If Lu Yuanhong had intended to produce legitimate medicine when he opened this company, there would have been no need to register it under Amei's name, nor to locate the factory on an island that was difficult to find.

This was very likely another one of their highly secretive strongholds.

"I know what you're suspecting. When I saw that the registered owner of the company was Lu Yuanhong's mistress, I had the same suspicion as you," Su Kangxi said with a troubled expression. "However, no one here has been to that island. No one has personally confirmed if the factory there has ceased production or if anyone is still present. No one is willing to go, including the local police. That island is called the Eye of Hell, and people here believe the island is ominous."

"How could this be?" Qin Tianyi was now certain there must be a problem.

"It can only be said that Lu Yuanhong was very clever at the time. He established the pharmaceutical company on that island precisely because of this. So, when the local high-ranking officials saw that a place originally undeveloped and considered ominous was going to receive a huge investment, his company was immediately approved, and they were granted many privileges. After their company was built, no one paid any attention to it or visited. I suspect they could do whatever they wanted on that island, like being absolute rulers."

Qin Tianyi asked, "What do we do now? Someone has to go to the island to clarify this. Jia Nanfang is a wanted criminal. If the local police are unwilling to go, we can ask the international police to intervene. After all, unless she is apprehended, Lu Yuanhong's criminal syndicate cannot be considered truly dismantled."

"That's the only way now. We still have to return to Lancheng first. I need to report this matter to my superiors so that the international police can cooperate."

"Alright, I'll notify my private jet pilot to prepare for our return to Lancheng as soon as possible in the next couple of days," Qin Tianyi agreed. Compared to Yang Sijie, Jia Nanfang was the one who needed to be caught the most, and she couldn't be allowed to continue evading justice.

...

At night, after the children had fallen asleep, Susu stayed awake, waiting for Tianyi in their room.

Tianyi gently pushed open their room door near midnight. Seeing Susu sitting on the bed, still awake, he softly asked, "Why aren't you asleep yet?"

"Mmm, are you going to accompany Tiantian tonight? She slept very early today and didn't fuss." Susu got up and walked over to hug him.

Tianyi gently pushed her away and said, "I'm going to take a shower first. You should rest early. Get your luggage ready tomorrow. Kangxi and I have arranged it; we're returning to Lancheng the day after tomorrow."

His indifferent attitude made her feel uncomfortable, and she asked with a hint of grievance, "Don't we have a private jet? What do you and Kangxi need to arrange for a whole day, only to return past midnight?"

"After finishing our business, we went to a bar here for a few drinks," Tianyi said, turning to go to the bathroom.

Susu quickly said, "Don't drag Kangxi to drink anymore. He and Yanan are on their honeymoon."

"It was my oversight. Did Yanan complain to you?"

Susu didn't answer him, hesitating before asking, "Did you tell Kangxi about Yang Sijie's situation? Are you two always together recently because you plan to have the police arrest him?"

Tianyi looked at her again, knowing she was still worried about Yang Sijie. But the current situation was far more complicated than apprehending Yang Sijie, and he wasn't ready to tell her about his and Su Kangxi's findings.

"Yes, I told him. He said there's no immediate action that can be taken, and after we return to Lancheng, he will report it to his superiors before making a decision. Let's not worry about it."

"That's for the best," she said, watching him turn to leave again, her eyes welling up. "Are you still angry? It's up to you whether to hand Yang Sijie over to the police. I'll listen to you."

Tianyi, with his back to her, said, "I'm not angry with you. You should sleep early," and went into the bathroom without looking back.

Susu gazed at the closed bathroom door, wondering what she could do to make him stop blaming her.

Tianyi showered with cold water. In fact, he understood Susu's thoughts perfectly, but he couldn't let go of his own feelings.

He wasn't blaming Susu; he just felt that no matter how capable he was, he couldn't overcome the lack of time fate had given him.

He hadn't, like Yang Sijie, known Susu since childhood and protected her throughout those years.

The total time they had spent together by chance hadn't even accumulated to much, and she had spent more time with Yang Sijie in the orphanage.

How could he compete with Yang Sijie? How could he unreasonably ask her not to worry about Yang Sijie, or to completely erase Yang Sijie from her heart?

He was just struggling with himself, wanting some time alone to calm down these few days.

After his shower, he sat by the bed. Seeing that she had fallen asleep, he reached out and gently stroked her cheek, sighed, and then left their room, going to the children's room.

Susu, with her eyes closed, hadn't actually slept. Knowing he had gone to accompany the children again, her heart ached with a dull, persistent pain, but she couldn't say anything more.

Now, with Yang Sijie's issue between them, anything she said would seem self-serving.

However, according to what he had said, they would wait for Kangxi to report back to Lancheng before arresting Yang Sijie. By then, Allen would have likely taken Yang Sijie and fled elsewhere.

Allen wasn't foolish. Wherever he took Yang Sijie, it would be even more secluded, and perhaps no one would ever bother them again.

...

The next day, everyone packed their luggage. Yanan was still a little reluctant to leave the beautiful island.

She pulled Kangxi to go for a walk at the seaside church there and also asked Susu and Tianyi to join them.

Tianyi clearly refused, saying he wanted to accompany the children and didn't want to disturb their honeymoon any further.

"Disturb what? I like liveliness, and the small church here is so beautiful." Yanan linked arms with Susu, insisting they go together.

Susu smiled and said, "Why don't you and Kangxi have a Western wedding again at the church here?"

"We're going back tomorrow, so there's no time for a wedding. But if you and Mr. Qin want to have a make-up wedding, you can consider coming to this church next time." Yanan, speaking in a joking tone, pulled Susu along and said, "Come on, let's go for a walk together."

Susu couldn't help but glance at Tianyi, who was holding Tiantian. Seeing that he didn't respond to Yanan's suggestion, it seemed he was still insistent on not going.
