"Hey? Shen Xi, where are you guys?" Qin Si Ye's warm and pleasant voice came from the other end of the phone.
Shen Xi paused for a moment. Had this man also come to the hospital?
"We're in the temporary treatment room on the first floor," Shen Xi replied softly, turning her back.
"Okay. I'll be there immediately." After speaking, Qin Si Ye hung up the phone.
When Shen Xi turned around, she found that Su Cheng Yu was no longer there. He must have heard her call out "Mr. Qin" and slipped away in fright. She couldn't help but smirk with contempt, truly a case of one master conquering another. It seemed only Qin Si Ye could make him feel apprehensive.
As Shen Xi walked out from the washbasin in the restroom, she saw Qin Si Ye striding past her.
She quickly called out to stop him, "Mr. Qin."
"Oh? So you were here." Qin Si Ye frowned slightly, a hint of worry in his eyes. "Did you encounter anyone just now?"
From a distance, he thought he had seen Su Cheng Yu's figure walking out from here.
"No," Shen Xi shook her head, feigning casualness.
"Oh." Qin Si Ye didn't ask any further questions, assuming he had misidentified someone.
Shen Xi looked at him with surprise, "Why are you here at this time?"
Qin Si Ye's lips curved into a handsome arc, "I'm here to take you home."
Home? Didn't that sound a little too intimate? Home to whose house? Fortunately, no one else could hear, or they'd think they were a couple.
"I'm not going back for now. Yi Fei hasn't woken up yet, and I need to stay here to take care of her." Shen Xi's expression turned slightly serious, and she looked towards an unknown spot ahead.
"Isn't Jian Fan here?" Qin Si Ye's ink-black eyes held a touch of heartache. "Besides, you have children at home, and you have to work tomorrow morning."
"That's different," Shen Xi tilted her head, looking at him with stubbornness.
Seeing her expression, Qin Si Ye's voice softened even more, "Alright, then I'll go with you to see her."
The two of them gently pushed the door open and entered Xie Yi Fei's room. Upon seeing Qin Si Ye, Jian Fan immediately stood up respectfully, "Mr. Qin."
"How is Xie Yi Fei?" Qin Si Ye glanced at the hospital bed and asked with concern.
"She's had her medication and is in stable condition, sleeping soundly. The doctor said she'll be conscious after a good night's sleep," Jian Fan explained Xie Yi Fei's condition clearly and concisely.
"That's good." Qin Si Ye then couldn't help but glance at Shen Xi.
Jian Fan immediately understood Qin Si Ye's purpose for being there and quickly said to Shen Xi, "Sister Xi, you should go back with Mr. Qin. I can handle things here."
"How can I do that? Yi Fei often sweats, and I need to wipe her down periodically. You're a man, and it would be inconvenient for you," Shen Xi still disagreed.
When Yi Fei was brought in earlier, she had been sweating profusely. Shen Xi had not only wiped her down several times but also specifically asked the nurse for a set of hospital clothes to change her torn outfit.
"Sister Xi, Yi Fei is now fast asleep, and her sweating has reduced significantly. There's no need to wipe her down as before. Don't worry, I can really take good care of her."
As Jian Fan spoke, his eyes suddenly lit up, and he thought of two reasons to persuade her to go back.
"Sister Xi, if you don't go back, who will take the children to school tomorrow morning? Also, you can conveniently go back and get a set of clothes for Yi Fei. Otherwise, she won't have anything to wear when she goes home tomorrow."
Hearing this, Shen Xi pondered for a moment before finally agreeing, "Alright. But you two wait outside first. I'll wipe down her body one last time."
Ten minutes later, Shen Xi picked up her bag and opened the door. Jian Fan immediately walked in.
"Remember to frequently wipe her face with warm water," Shen Xi added another instruction as she was leaving.
"Okay. Hurry up and go. If you don't leave now, Mr. Qin might get impatient," Jian Fan looked back at her, a meaningful smile playing on his lips.
After chatting outside the door for a few moments, he suddenly realized that Qin Si Ye's state of mind at that moment should be the same as his own.
He had rushed to the hospital late at night to pick up a woman and take her home; meanwhile, he was willingly staying by a woman's side.
Both of them should have the same emotion called liking for the women they wanted to protect.
Sitting in Qin Si Ye's car, Shen Xi glanced at him and said gratefully again, "Thank you, Mr. Qin, for doing so much for us tonight."
"Can you stop saying those two words?" Qin Si Ye cast a slight frown at her, finding those words annoying at times as they starkly widened the distance between people.
