Chapter 208 I Want My Husband's Kisses and Hugs

The hospital room was eerily quiet.

Lu Yanbei and Su He looked at each other silently, neither of them breaking the silence first.

Su He didn't know how to comfort him, while Lu Yanbei felt heartbroken for her.

Everything had been under his control, everything had been going smoothly, yet it had gone wrong at the last moment, and he had almost lost her. How could Lu Yanbei not blame himself!

He had been too arrogant!

Heaven knew how fast his heart had pounded when he heard that Su He had been stuffed into a refrigerated truck.

He had been going crazy!

Just like back then, when he couldn't find Su He anywhere and had gone mad!

Back then, he could only hurt himself desperately to alleviate the pain.

From then until now, he had been enduring the pain, his fingernails digging into his palms. He was afraid that if he lost control of his emotions, he would do something he would regret, and also afraid of... scaring the person he loved.

"It's alright now..." Su He forced a smile and held his trembling hand.

She knew this was a sign of his condition acting up.

She didn't want him to torment himself for her.

"Honey, hug me, I'm so cold..." Su He opened her arms to him, pouting playfully.

And surprisingly, this trick actually worked.

Lu Yanbei leaned down and pulled Su He into his embrace.

Su He's evening gown was ruined from the ordeal and considered a write-off. After being taken to the emergency room, the doctor found a nurse to help her change into a clean hospital gown.

"Honey, I want to take a hot bath, I stink!" After the first step was successful, Su He made another request.

She had consulted Lu Yanbei's psychologist, Xiao Xun, before. The best way to help him overcome his psychological barriers was to distract him.

Su He's requests for hugs and baths were all attempts to distract him.

"I'll help you run the bathwater," Lu Yanbei said and walked into the bathroom.

Not long after, he returned to carry Su He in.

Su He sighed comfortably as she lay in the bathtub. "Ah, it would be even better with some red wine."

"You just finished your IV drip, you can't drink alcohol for the next week," Lu Yanbei explained patiently while washing her hair.

Su He said "oh" with regret. "Then a cup of milk tea isn't too much to ask, is it?"

"What flavor do you want? I'll have someone go buy it for you later," Lu Yanbei said, looking at her dotingly.

"Salted egg yolk taro mango," Su He said with a smile, naming a flavor.

Lu Yanbei paused, as if he hadn't understood.

Su He had to repeat herself. "You don't understand? I'll send it to your phone later."

Speaking of phones, Su He suddenly realized she hadn't seen hers in a long time.

"It should be with the bridesmaid," Lu Yanbei replied to her question after rinsing the foam from her hair with clear water.

After showering, Su He smelled fragrant again.

"I want a kiss!" Su He had wanted to do this earlier, but she smelled too bad to initiate. Now that she was clean all over, she had no reservations.

"Stop fooling around!" Lu Yanbei caught her restless hands.

"Hmph, I want one!" Su He said, and then leaned in to kiss him.

"Su Su, are you done? I'm going down to get something to eat. Look at you..." As soon as Su He's lips touched his, Su Ying pushed the door open, interrupting their intimate moment.

"Ah, sorry, you guys continue!" Su Ying, having witnessed the ambiguous scene, coughed lightly and turned to leave.

Su He's face immediately turned red.

It was so embarrassing to be caught doing something naughty!

Lu Yanbei suddenly chuckled. "I was about to say it's not convenient right now..."

"It really isn't convenient!" Su He muttered.

Too many third wheels!

However, after this incident, Su He gave up on her idea and obediently lay back down in the hospital bed.

Lu Yanbei stroked her head and turned to go to the restroom.

Seeing that Su He was in good spirits, the people in the corridor came in to visit.

Jiang Xiaoxiao was the last to enter, and she returned Su He's phone. "Meow Meow, it's all my fault for being so careless..."

She shouldn't have let her guard down.

"What does this have to do with you! You were just trying to help me get my necklace back." Mentioning the jewelry, Su He couldn't help but gasp. "The password was changed, did I lose anything?"

"Don't worry, we got it all back!" Su Ying replied. "Their goal was to stall for time; they didn't touch anything inside."

"Then that's truly... a shame!" Su He clicked her tongue.

If those thieves had known that the jewelry in the safe was worth tens of millions, they probably wouldn't have bothered with her. Walking away with the jewelry, unseen and unheard of, wouldn't that have been better?

"You really are a fool who gets lucky!" Su Ying's thoughts were similar to hers. She couldn't tell if the thief was stupid or uncultured.

Su He rubbed the spot she had poked. "Sister, I'm a patient, can't you go easy on me?"

"I've already held back! Ask Su Lin what it felt like when I twisted his ear just now?"

Su He's gaze immediately shifted to Su Lin.

Su Lin instinctively covered his ears. "Eldest Sister, you're such a tomboy, I'm really afraid you'll never get married!"

"Whether I get married or not is none of your business! Besides, who says women must get married?" Su Ying raised her hand, preparing to give him another pinch.

Su Lin flinched and took a few steps back, hiding behind Su Chen. "Big Brother, aren't you going to do anything?"

"Stop messing around," Su Chen, being the eldest among the four, still had some authority. As soon as he spoke, Su Ying and Su Lin immediately quieted down.

Jiang Xiaoxiao looked at their interaction and couldn't help but envy them.

She was the eldest in her family, with a younger brother and sister. But due to her parents' favoritism, the relationship between her and her siblings wasn't very harmonious. They were used to her giving, and had taken her concessions for granted. She hadn't been home much in recent years, and they hadn't contacted her, so their feelings had grown distant. Although they maintained superficial politeness, they were no better than strangers.

Su He and her siblings bickered, but it was all in jest, not genuine conflict. When they needed to be united, they all pulled together. Despite having no blood relation, they were closer than if they were biological siblings.

Su He sensed her loneliness and reached out to squeeze her hand. "There weren't many children present today, so there should be quite a few red envelopes left, right?"

Jiang Xiaoxiao nodded. "Only ten were given out."

Su He's eyes lit up. "Does that mean I've saved a year's worth of milk tea money? Hahaha..."

Seeing her greedy expression, everyone couldn't help but laugh and shake their heads.

She had almost lost her life, and she could still laugh! Should she be called resilient, or foolish?

But that was good!

At least, she wouldn't be left with any psychological trauma.
