"Hello everyone, I am Bai Lin, the acting Left Divine Hall of District Thirteen."
The audience erupted into thunderous applause.
Bai Lin nodded her head, indicating for them to quiet down.
The applause subsided.
"You are all now considered officially selected employees. However, even at this point, you are not yet official employees of District Thirteen. The final stepping stone to becoming an official employee of District Thirteen is this mission."
The projection screen displayed several large characters:
"Reclaim the Seventh District"
————————————————
As the large screen scrolled, everyone present gained a comprehensive understanding of the mission.
The highest contributor to completing this mission would directly become a temporary agent of the Seventh District, a temporary leader. Their rights and benefits would be no different from a regular leader.
This mission seemed tailor-made for Chen Fan.
Completing it would directly offer an opportunity to interact with higher-ups.
Of course, this mission's rewards were met with considerable opposition from numerous leaders. However, Bai Lin remained resolute, and only when the Right Divine Hall could no longer argue with her did they agree to this plan.
The announcement immediately ignited the atmosphere, as who wouldn't want to experience a meteoric rise like a carp leaping over the dragon gate?
"Acting Left Divine Hall Lord, the requirement to reclaim the Seventh District is for us to collectively undertake a mission to prove that the Seventh District still exists?" someone inquired.
"Divine Hall Bai, so what exactly is the mission this time?"
Another person asked.
After all, with such high-level rewards, the mission's danger level was surely comparable.
Chen Fan remained seated and silent, his gaze fixed on Bai Lin.
Bai Lin winked at Chen Fan, a gesture that went unnoticed by others, including her sister, Bai Ling.
Chen Fan knew this must be a mission tailored for him, as only a select few knew his true strength.
Excluding individuals within China, of course.
Indeed, as Chen Fan suspected, this mission was Bai Lin's chosen path for him to reach the higher echelons quickly, given her knowledge of his true capabilities.
They shared a knowing smile, as if connected by an unseen thread.
Hearing the others' questions, Bai Lin smiled and explained.
"The mission you need to complete is an S-class special mission."
"Some of you are surely wondering what an S-class mission entails."
"I will explain it to you all here."
"An SSS+ class mission is something that even the twelve leaders present would not readily dare to accept."
"The mortality rate for SSS+ class missions is as high as eighty-five percent."
"This S-class mission, however, involves traveling to the dangerous Middle East to rescue a self-established medium-sized nation."
As Bai Lin finished speaking, some individuals immediately expressed their reluctance.
"With just a few of us going to the Middle East to rescue a nation???"
"Are you joking?"
Murmurs of discontent spread through the audience.
"Silence!"
The leader of the Sixth District beside her immediately shouted.
The room fell into a dead silence.
Bai Lin looked at the crowd and continued.
"Of course, this mission is not compulsory. You all have the option to not participate. However! If you wish to become a leader by solely accepting assassination or escort missions, unless a particularly significant emergency occurs, it will take at least five years! Furthermore, if there is an existing leader or a living leader in this district, unless you achieve a major merit, you can only become a vice-leader; otherwise, it's all in vain."
These words were also directed at Chen Fan, informing him that he couldn't solely rely on ordinary missions for promotion. While this path was feasible, it consumed an extraordinary amount of time.
Becoming a leader was not a casual endeavor. If Chen Fan were to assume the role of acting leader, he would possess control over the Seventh District for five years.
Chen Fan, of course, understood Bai Lin's good intentions, his gaze inadvertently revealing his thoughts, almost making Bai Lin blush.
"Hearing this, the crowd fell into contemplation. Indeed, if they wished to be promoted to leader, it would take at least five years. And if they completed this mission with the highest contribution, it could save them at least five years. Moreover, with the entire Seventh District annihilated during the mission, it would be impossible to cultivate new leaders in the short term."
Seeing the crowd still hesitating, Bai Lin spoke again.
"Of course, to help you avoid detours, the mission departure date is set for three months from now. During these three months, you can visit the mission hall to accept tasks you desire and increase your contribution. When you depart for the Middle East, you can also form your own team based on your contribution and enhance your combat knowledge."
As Bai Lin concluded her speech, the new recruits began to ponder.
Chen Fan, however, had already deciphered Bai Lin's entire strategy.
From the immediate departure to the current three-month delay, this masterful use of language had stunned Chen Fan. First, she presented the new recruits with an unacceptable mission. Then, she analyzed the mission's pros and cons. Finally, she postponed the departure date, giving the newcomers breathing room. Within these three months, she would subtly instill the idea that the mission was manageable, making it much easier to accept.
"As expected, she is indeed the number one secretary of District Thirteen. Her mind is incredibly sharp. Fortunately, she is on my side, otherwise, destroying District Thirteen would be an unimaginably difficult challenge."
Chen Fan mused.
