Chapter 78: Saving Ryker’s Arse Again! (Super gift Chapter}
Chapter 78
Crackle!
KABUM!
WOOSH!
SIZZLE!
BANG!
The first to move, of course, was Vynn, and he exploded forward, lightning sizzling and crackling around his feet and hands as he gripped the hilt of his sword, which was sheathed across his waist. Sparks trailed in his wake, painting streaks of light across the ground as though the very air bent beneath his presence.
With a deafening bang, he leaped off the ground, causing a huge crack to form where he had stood only a second earlier. The earth quaked under the force, scattering dust and stones like tiny meteors.
The beast reacted swiftly, kicking Renzo away and sending the C-ranked Reaver skidding violently across the battlefield. Renzo coughed out a mouthful of saliva mixed with blood, his vision shaking as his body rolled before finally slamming into the dirt.
That momentary distraction saved him, for Vynn was already descending from above with his sword unsheathed, the blade gleaming with electricity as he swung vertically, aiming to cleave the beast in two.
The Lycan’s ears twitched at the crackling sound. Its glowing eyes narrowed, and a sinister gleam crossed them as it tilted its head upward. The chilling grin never left its face. In the blink of an eye, it dashed away, leaving behind a blur of afterimages. Vynn’s blade crashed into the ground.
BOOM!
A mountain of dust erupted, spreading outward in a suffocating wave. The ground split like shattered glass, and the entire battlefield trembled. Within the cloud, only the hiss and snap of lightning could be heard as the dust concealed Vynn’s figure.
The B-ranked boss now stood two meters away, having evaded the strike with frightening ease. Its claws flexed, eager to rip flesh apart, but then the wind howled and whistled like a furious spirit.
"Bull Thrust!" Ryker’s voice cut through the air, followed by a long yawn as though this deadly moment was nothing but routine. He thrust his sword, and an invisible wave of compressed wind tore through the battlefield with astonishing speed.
The Lycan couldn’t see it, but its instincts screamed. It raised both claws across its face just in time. The invisible strike slammed against its guard with a violent crash. The ground beneath its feet split apart from the impact, yet when the dust cleared, its hide remained unscratched.
Ryker’s eyes widened in disbelief. His hand trembled around the hilt of his sword.
’Impossible! That attack could tear a gaping hole through a C-ranked beast, yet it didn’t even scratch him? How the hell is this possible?!’ His mind screamed, and for a second, his body refused to move.
The beast seized the chance. Its legs coiled like springs before it dashed forward with blistering speed, the ground exploding beneath its stride.
The loud bang snapped Ryker back to his senses, but it was too late. The Lycan loomed closer, charging like an unstoppable bull.
"Crap!" Ryker muttered beneath his breath. His heart thundered, and his body froze.
"Mountainous Defense!" A powerful voice thundered, and instantly a shield surged into view. A massive wall of earth burst from the ground, spreading across it before rising high like a fortress, meeting the beast’s punch at the perfect moment.
BAM!
BANG!
The collision shook the battlefield. A violent shockwave spread out, forcing even Ryker to skid back, his boots carving lines in the dirt. Cracks spiderwebbed across the earthen wall, dust raining from it as though it might collapse at any second.
"Shit! This is the second time today I’m saving your weak arse!" Kael roared. He appeared a step away from the shield, his face twisted with pain and fury as he cast a glance at Ryker, veins bulging in his temple.
BANG!
Another violent bang echoed, and Kael’s eyes widened in horror as the wall finally gave way. It crumbled into fragments, collapsing like a broken dam. From within the falling debris, the B-ranked Lycan emerged unscathed, its claws gleaming as they shot forward, aiming to pierce Kael’s chest.
"Wheel of Death."
The calm voice rang out like a death knell. A massive spinning circle of water formed in the air before crashing against the Lycan’s hide. The impact was vicious enough to draw blood, dark and thick, spilling down its arm as the beast staggered back for the first time.
From the settling dust, Jace walked forward. His blonde hair fluttered against the wind, catching the faint glow of light.
His sword was pointed down, calm yet sharp, his expression unshaken as his cold gaze fixed on the beast. Black blood dripped slowly from the Lycan’s arm, and for once, the arrogant creature had a stunned look on its face.
"The last time, I was unable to do much against the B-ranked beast because I was alone. But now," Jace said, his voice steady as he lifted his sword. Clear, flowing water spiraled around the blade, swirling calmly as though answering his call.
"I have the power and strength of my friends, and together, we’ll take you down! Now!" Jace roared with calm determination as he swung his sword with all his might, unleashing a massive wheel of water that spun forward like a raging tide.
"Cold Death." Erin’s voice cut in sharply. She leaped high into the air, her figure blending with the mist. Landing perfectly in the wheel’s path, she extended her icy sword, tapping the edge with the tip.
In an instant, the spinning torrent froze solid, transforming into a deadly disk of ice. With a shattering boom, it smashed into the beast, forcing the Lycan to stagger and skid backward across the battlefield, its claws scraping against the earth.
"Earth Veil: Smashy Smashy!" Renzo bellowed as he swung his heavy mace. The spikes slowly encased themselves in jagged earth, thickening the weapon’s head until it looked like a brutal mountain of stone.
The Lycan sensed danger. Its eyes flashed, and it spun swiftly, swinging its claws forward to meet the blow.
BOOOOM!
The clash echoed like thunder. The impact reverberated beneath their feet, shaking the cracked ground. Renzo gritted his teeth but wore a smile, unfazed.
"What’s wrong?! Where’s your damned Veil? Stop stalling and let’s end this, you overgrown dog!" Renzo roared, his voice booming as the veins in his arms bulged while he pressed down harder, his muscles screaming with effort.
The Lycan suddenly shot its foot out in a powerful kick, aiming straight for Renzo’s side. But before the blow could connect, Kael appeared in its path, his shield fortified with layers of earth.
BOOOOM!
The beast’s kick collided with the shield, sending a shockwave across the ground. Kael’s arms trembled violently under the impact. His feet dragged backward, skidding a few meters across the dirt as pain surged through his bones, every throb reminding him of the sheer force behind the beast’s strike.
AWHOOOOO!
The Lycan let out a deafening howl of fury, its voice piercing through the battlefield like a war cry. With speed that defied its massive frame, it blitzed forward, its fist flying toward Renzo’s face with lethal intent.
"You’re fast... but so am I." Vynn’s voice echoed, crackling with static. Thunder boomed overhead as his body vanished and reappeared in front of the beast’s claws.
His sword shot forward, colliding with the Lycan’s strike in a violent explosion of sound. The thunderous bang echoed, forcing Renzo himself to skid back from the shockwave.
"Come on!" Vynn shouted, hyping himself up as sparks danced across his skin. He kicked off the ground, spinning midair before bringing his sword down in a powerful slash aimed at the beast’s back.
The blade connected, carving into its flesh, and a small tear finally appeared, drawing blood.
But the Lycan’s rage only grew. It spun with terrifying speed, its claws swinging around to swat Vynn from the air.
"Bull Thrust!" Ryker’s voice thundered, and a piercing bang followed as his attack shot out with astonishing speed. The concentrated wind strike smashed into the Lycan’s shoulder just as it focused on Vynn.
This time, the hit connected true. Flesh tore apart, and a small but clear hole appeared in its shoulder, oozing black blood that dripped steadily down its arm.
The beast staggered, its grin faltering ever so slightly as it snarled in pain, glaring at the humans who dared wound it.
