Chapter 37: Prenatal Checkup

Chapter 37: Chapter 37: Prenatal Checkup

The next second.

Nathan Sawyer’s video message arrived.

Serena Yeats saw she was wearing glasses and knew she was working on a draft.

"Serena, what’s up? I’m working on a sketch."

"Nathan, how’s your design going?" Serena Yeats asked.

Soon enough.

Nathan Sawyer held up the newly revised draft and displayed it toward the camera. "How does it look?"

"Beautiful!" Serena Yeats replied honestly.

Nathan Sawyer said in a cheerful tone, "You can have first place, I’ll take second."

"You shouldn’t say that." Serena Yeats replied modestly.

At night, the sky grew dark.

Serena Yeats sat on the swing in the garden, gazing at the stars.

Suddenly...

A man with an outstanding height walked into her view, perfectly proportioned with an impeccable, handsome face.

He wore the shirt she had given him, standing tall, and Serena Yeats was slightly stunned.

No wonder the Young Miss Thorne liked him so much, even knowing he was married, she still wanted to interfere.

Who wouldn’t be drawn to beautiful things?

Serena Yeats stood up and walked towards him.

Elias Lancaster opened his arms and embraced Serena Yeats, kissing her forehead tenderly, "I’m back."

Serena Yeats spoke softly, "Uncle, have you eaten?"

Elias Lancaster nodded, then suddenly thought of something and asked, "You haven’t eaten?"

Serena Yeats smiled, "I have eaten."

Elias Lancaster’s smile widened, "Good girl."

Serena Yeats felt her stomach move suddenly.

The next second.

She took Elias Lancaster’s hand and placed it on her stomach, looking down at it.

She was wearing pajamas, and when Elias Lancaster saw this gesture, his hand trembled. "Serena, is your stomach uncomfortable?"

Elias Lancaster’s face changed, ready to take her to the hospital, but Serena Yeats pressed his hand, preventing him from moving.

The next instant.

Elias Lancaster felt the babies seemed to move.

He seriously felt the sensation coming from his hand.

The little ones were indeed moving.

He had felt this in the company’s lounge before, but his eyes still reddened, "Thank you, my darling."

Elias Lancaster crouched down and kissed her stomach, "Little ones, please be gentle when you move, don’t hurt your mom."

Serena Yeats was amused by his demeanor, "Uncle, can they understand?"

That night, Elias Lancaster couldn’t bear to remove his hand from Serena Yeats’s stomach.

"Serena, your stomach seems bigger than last week, are you tired? Does your back hurt?"

Elias Lancaster asked worriedly, noticing her belly getting larger as the months progressed.

Serena Yeats shook her head, "No, just sometimes a little sore."

"Thank you for all your hard work." Elias Lancaster said with concern.

"Time to sleep now, I’ll take you for your check-up tomorrow." Elias Lancaster’s voice was filled with infinite tenderness.

When he saw the person in his embrace not responding, he looked down and noticed she had fallen asleep unknowingly.

He kissed her forehead, hugged the person in his arms, and fell peacefully asleep.

The next day.

At the hospital, Elias Lancaster carried Serena Yeats inside, his steps steady and his expression not as cold as before, even with a touch of pride.

Once inside, Serena Yeats reacted, "Uncle, I can walk myself, I’m too heavy now."

"It’s okay, no matter how heavy, your husband can carry you."

Serena Yeats had no choice but to let Elias Lancaster carry her.

When the doctor saw him carrying a girl, surprise appeared on her face. "Elias, how do you know I’m back, what is this...?"

Renee Aniston looked towards his arms, and her gaze froze.

She came from a prestigious family, though not the highest echelon, she was still part of the elite. Her environment was privileged, and interactions were numerous. She prided herself on being immune to the concept of beauty.

But the girl in Elias Lancaster’s arms was not only beautiful, but sweet and exceptionally striking. Yet...

She whispered to herself, "So similar..."

In her thoughts, Elias Lancaster’s voice interrupted, "Serena, this is Aunt Aniston, she is Theodore Lynch’s mom and the head of this obstetrics department."

Then Elias Lancaster looked at Renee Aniston, "Aunt Aniston, this is my wife Serena Yeats, would you kindly perform her check-up."

His eyes held a hint of investigation, as Renee Aniston’s reaction upon meeting Serena Yeats was overly surprising.

Upon hearing Elias Lancaster call her, Serena Yeats obediently followed, "Aunt Aniston, hello!"

Renee Aniston, "..."

Elias Lancaster carrying a girl hadn’t fully sunk in yet!

He even managed to get her pregnant!

Renee Aniston was unsure which information to process first.

She took a few seconds to snap back to reality.

"Ah, Serena, hello, come for your check-up, right?"

"Yes."

Renee Aniston gestured for Elias Lancaster to place her on the examination bed, "Put her on the check-up bed, how can I examine her while you’re carrying her?"

Serena Yeats’s face flushed like a boiled shrimp.

She regretted not insisting on walking in herself.

Elias Lancaster laid Serena Yeats on the examination bed, standing beside her.

Then, he handed over the previous check-up documents to Renee Aniston.

Renee Aniston glanced at them.

"Twins!"

Renee Aniston appeared startled, "..."

The Lancaster Family’s difficult offspring situation actually resulted in two at once?

She didn’t know whether to commend them or go home and scold her son, seeing others have two while he doesn’t even have a girlfriend, let alone a wife.

Renee Aniston glanced at Elias Lancaster, indicating he should pay attention to the sign beside him: "Men Stop Here!"

Elias Lancaster stood still, "I’m not other people, no need to stop."

Renee Aniston, "..."

Her face turned stern, "As long as you’re a man, you need to leave."

And just like that.

Elias Lancaster was expelled from the examination room.

He waited outside until the door opened again, and immediately went inside.

Serena Yeats was seated at the consultation table, after answering questions, she was given pointers on important matters.

"The two babies are developing well. Twins put more strain on the mother, be careful, some things shouldn’t be done recklessly, learn to restrain."

While speaking, Renee Aniston looked at Elias Lancaster.

Elias Lancaster furrowed his brow, "Such as what?"

Renee Aniston, "Try not to overexert, maintain a pleasant mood, and most importantly, reduce intimate activities."

Elias Lancaster furrowed his brow slightly.

Serena Yeats was much less natural, her gaze wandering, face red enough to want to find a hole to crawl into.

"Go do an ultrasound, I’ll take you there." Saying this, Renee Aniston stood up, ready to help Serena Yeats, but her hand hung in midair.

Seeing the seated person fall into Elias Lancaster’s embrace.

Renee Aniston, "..."

Was this the person she’d watched grow up?

How had he changed so much after getting a wife?

She shook her head, leading them to the ultrasound room.

For the ultrasound, Elias Lancaster firmly insisted no one else enter. "A single room for the ultrasound."

Renee Aniston held her patience, "There is."

Immediately after, she led them to a separate ultrasound room.

Listening to the heartbeats from the machine.

"Thump thump thump..."
