"What did you say?" Mu Liangchen stared at him intently.
After much tidying up, Pete recounted everything from their meeting to the entire meal.
Mu Liangchen slammed the table and shouted, "You've messed things up!"
"Messed things up?" Pete looked at him nervously. "What exactly are you guys up to? I'm getting more confused by the minute."
With a sigh, Mu Liangchen didn't know how to explain. They had only told Pete that Jiang Ziyu's return was due to Yuze's illness. However, Jiang Ziyu didn't want too many people to know the specific reasons, so she hadn't told him.
If she revealed it now, he might think they weren't being good friends!
Seeing his hesitation, Pete became displeased. He slapped his palm on the table and scolded, "Are we even friends anymore?"
Forget it, he would find out eventually!
Mu Liangchen thought and began to explain.
The more Pete listened, the more confused he became. It was like listening to a story, the content was so bizarre.
"Does he know Ziyu's identity now?" Pete asked.
Mu Liangchen shook his head. "Ziyu is doing all this hoping he will donate a kidney to Yuze. Once Yuze is treated, we will return abroad."
So, he was the one who couldn't get what he wanted!
Pete sighed inwardly.
Without even eating, afraid of affecting Jiang Ziyu, the two left the restaurant separately, with over ten minutes between them.
Di Residence.
Jiang Ziyu stood on the balcony, holding her phone, enjoying the gentle breeze. She scrolled through messages and call records repeatedly.
The message at the top was from yesterday, and the last call was five minutes ago, lasting for one minute.
Jiang Ziyu put her phone in her pocket, not intending to make a big fuss about asking him.
"Dinner is ready, come downstairs to eat." Jiang Ziyu bent down and picked up Qianqian.
Di Mingjue's mind was in turmoil. He looked at Jiang Ziyu, who seemed unfazed, and couldn't help but want to ask.
But as the words reached his lips, he felt he had no reason to say them. He remained conflicted until they reached the dining table, his gaze fixed on Jiang Ziyu.
The others gradually took their seats. The old lady, looking at the harmonious family, smiled and reminded everyone to start eating.
Qianqian sat between Jiang Ziyu and Di Mingjue. During the meal, Jiang Ziyu was busy taking care of Qianqian, her eyes never resting on Di Mingjue.
However, Di Mingjue's gaze never left her.
"Mingjue?" the old lady suddenly called out at the quiet dining table.
Everyone looked up, but Di Mingjue was still staring at Jiang Ziyu, mesmerized.
Jiang Ziyu looked up and met his burning gaze, noticing the scattered food on his plate.
"Grandma is calling you," she couldn't help but remind him.
Her words pulled his wandering thoughts back. Di Mingjue turned to look at his grandmother, who was watching him with concern.
"Are you feeling unwell?" the old lady asked solicitously.
Di Mingjue shook his head. He then noticed the mess he had made of the food in front of him. He instinctively reached out to tidy it, but his hand accidentally knocked over a cup, spilling its contents onto his lap.
"Quickly, get some tissues!" the old lady called to the servants.
The incident happened suddenly, and everyone was in a flurry.
Fortunately, the water was warm, otherwise, he would have been in real trouble!
Di Mingjue's pants were wet, and his expression was dark and intimidating.
Sensing his inner turmoil, Jiang Ziyu voluntarily stood up from her chair. "Grandma, you all eat first. I'll take him upstairs to change."
"Alright, go ahead. Don't catch a cold," the old lady said with concern.
In this household, the only one who could draw the old lady's concern was Di Mingjue.
Upon reaching the room upstairs, Jiang Ziyu pushed him towards the bed. She bent down and sat on the tatami mat beside him, looking at him lazily. "Just say what you want to say."
