Di Mingjue stopped, letting the phone he had raised fall to his side. He quietly observed the sounds that reached him from the surroundings.
But besides his own breathing, he could hear no other sounds.

"Why did you turn around?" Gu Xiukai shielded his eyes, struggling to face the light as he got back into the car. He picked up the tissues placed beside him and meticulously wiped each of his fingers. "I accidentally wandered too far just now, and it was too dark, so I completely forgot which way to go. But it's good that you shone your headlights over, providing me with direction."
Di Mingjue turned his head, his gaze scrutinizing him from top to bottom. "Can we go now?"
"Let's go," Gu Xiukai replied briskly.
While he agreed quickly, whether he could actually do it was another matter. He fastened his seatbelt, and the car beneath them began to move quickly.
It was as if he was doing it on purpose; the longer he took, the faster the car went.
Half an hour later, the car arrived at its destination according to the navigation.
"We're here?" Gu Xiukai asked.
Looking out the window, he took his phone out of his pocket and looked at the screen.
He had used the excuse of needing to use the restroom, but in reality, he had gone to contact Ye Shaoting. He informed him of his situation so that Ye Shaoting could make preparations on his end.
There was indeed a house in the suburbs, but it was very old. Judging by the cobwebs and dust, it looked like it hadn't been lived in for a very long time.

After spending so much time driving here, they hadn't found any clues, and now they were simply returning.
Di Mingjue glanced at the entire deserted villa but still did not get out to inspect it.
