Chapter 281: Experimentation...
After she had killed the rest of the soldiers, a sudden shift in the whole atmosphere occurred. Sophia narrowed her eyes; she knew what was about to happen, like a trumpet of war had been sounded throughout the world. And something took over the minds of all the humans. They all became mindless zombies. Every single human within the entire kingdom, whether trained or untrained in combat, weak or strong, old or young, began rushing towards her location as if a GPS tracker had been set on their minds, targeting Sophia.
Like mindless beasts, they rushed towards her to kill her. She gritted her teeth and picked up another good enough sword from the ground. Facing towards the entrance of the colosseum, thousands of humans were rushing inside, using all the pre-accumulated power Sophia could muster. She started killing every single one of them without a shred of mercy on her part. This continued for days; by that time, 100,000 or more people had gathered around the Colosseum, all rushing inside through the entrance like an unending tide of ants.
This resembled an apocalyptic scene, as if a tsunami of mindless zombies were trying to rip her figure to shreds, controlled by something unknown.
Sophia had already killed more than 50,000 of them, and the powers she was unlocking started to increase with each kill, but the increment in power was not enough; it was never enough, just like any of the past reincarnations. Her body and mind were too tired. While she had far crossed the threshold of a normal human, approaching the unthinkable, it still wasn’t enough. Not even close enough. The inherent biological traits remained. She came to an understanding long ago about the reason why her lifespan was not increasing beyond 400 years.
Because Prime Nexus was no longer strengthening her physically, it was preventing her from developing further as a biological being. At the same time, the white energy she earned from each of the kills continued to increase indefinitely throughout each of her lives. Still, due to the biological limitations of her body, she could not utilize it to its full potential. That was the core problem. The very reason she could never become strong enough to truly end all of humanity, even if she had enough pre-accumulated power.
The very reason she needed to take control of humanity from behind the scenes, not with brute strength, but with brains. Countless deep cuts and injuries littered all over her body, and after managing to kill about 65,000, her body finally gave in, as she was torn and shredded by the zombie-like state of the humans for the umpteenth time.
Her memories were erased, and she was born again. She regained her memories by facing another tragedy, killing her loved ones with her very own hands, then continuing to slaughter more humans, pitting the various strong forces against each other. Then the same type of confrontation with all the humans in a certain kingdom or country repeated. In all of the following reincarnations, she did not choose to live a long and silent life, manipulating things from behind. Instead, she kept it short while killing as many humans as possible.
Another thing to note here was that, every time the humans were mad, ticked by something, once she was killed, no one would remember anything about her, or the whole incident. Still, it was not like the traces of Sophia’s past would be erased, many historian’s and archeologists over the years did found her traces, many times, they tried to bring this information to the influential individuals and general populous, but Sophia made sure to kill them and erase those traces of hers, as soon as she regained her memories in the next life.
However, in her 450th reincarnation, she was born at the beginning of World War I as the child of Fritz Haber and Clara Immerwahr, two of the most famous chemists on the German side during the war. As Sophia slowly grew up, both of the scientist parents discovered the anomaly within their own child. The father, in particular, started to treat her more like a lab rat than his own daughter, referring to this process as "understanding" their own child to his wife, Clara.
Out of pure coincidence, a robber had sneaked into their house, and Sophia had used a pistol to kill the robber while she was a child. And that naturally brought the usual wave of white energy to her. As well as strengthening her figure and beauty, in a very short amount of time. This significant change in their daughter naturally did not escape Fritz Haber’s notice. Sophia also did not understand anything and revealed it all to him.
Then Fritz made her kill more and more humans. As World War 1 had begun. He obviously kept it all secret, but his wife also realized the significant changes her daughter had been experiencing lately. She eventually found out everything. But unlike Fritz, she was unable to see her daughter as a monster, even if she may have been highly abnormal. Nor did she have any power to do anything. If she went to higher authorities for help, they would ultimately discover everything about Sophia.
Nor could she escape to somewhere else with her daughter, considering the ongoing war as well as the influence of her husband, who was making more and more great strides in the chemical field. So, unable to handle the situation, unable to help her own daughter, unable to save her from her ruthless husband, and unable to abandon her motherly instincts, she committed suicide.
She killed herself right in front of Fritz using his own pistol. However, the man did not care much about his wife’s pleas. He also kept it a secret from his daughter. He continued to experiment on his daughter. Her blood composition, her skin, and cells —how they were different from those of normal humans. How her body evolved further with each of the humans she killed. Fritz discovered that only human kills made her stronger.
But the chemical scientist was unable to discover or understand anything about the white form of energy which Sophia used. It was utterly alien to him. It is something he could only see, but not touch or use. His brutal experiments on his daughter continued as he began to discover new and not-so-acceptable methods to use the blood of his own daughter. He discovered that a specific type of solution created using Sophia’s blood could be used to strengthen others temporarily.
Especially those with an inherently good physique, as this effect was more apparent on them. However, there were certain drawbacks to it after multiple uses. There are still many uncertain areas in his research. Sophia had grown by now; there was a certain coldness to her as she refused to cooperate with him any further. So, as a solution to that, Fritz had developed a special type of drug to keep her asleep. Kind of similar to a coma.
Fritz, a perfectionist, did not want to reveal his discovery to the higher-ups without further developing it, even though they had ultimately lost the war against the entire world. He only wanted to reveal it once it was near perfect. Another roadblock to his research was that he could not let his daughter kill anyone else anymore; she was growing too strong, too powerful. She was no longer a little child who would do anything he asked her to. Her strength far surpassed that of a human by a considerable margin.
